History
Inpus have been around since the beginning of time. In the past they were hidden better as they were still a species learning about the world they were in and how to survive and adapt. It is said that Inpus were created by a nature god to help nature become more unique and beautiful. It's not clear as to which nature god it was but they worship nature all the same. They all have a very deep respect for nature as they were created from it and they will get very very upset when they see nature being disrespected or hurt in any way.
Basic info
Inpus are a small magical humanoid species that live in almost any forest. There used to be five different types of Inpus. Spartans, Nares, Ethers, Nereid, and Elysians. These Inpus (except Elysians) all live amongst each other in their small communities in the forests. But over the course of their lifetime and evolution of their species they no longer are separated by their specific traits. They are very friendly in nature but can be aggressive if they feel threatened. All Inpus have some sort of fighting capability which they train to use in their early adulthood (100-110 years old is when they start training). Due to their small size they have to fend off lots of predators and do so in groups rather than alone
Spartans- Most common type of Inpus. Spartans were the very first type of Inpus to be discovered. The way to identify Spartans is by the plant growth from their bodies. Spartans are the only Inpus whose main feature is plant growth. Very little magic ability and have a very good sense of direction and tracking abilities.
Nares- You can easily identify a nare by their unique horns. These Inpus have an adept use of magic. Nares magic can be anything from telepathy to controlling fire but they can only have one type of magic.
Ethers- Ethers are the Inpus that can fly. Most common Ethers have normal pixie wings but some have been seen with more unique wings. These Inpus have an intermediate use of magic that gives them the ability to fly very fast and not be seen if they do not wish to be
Nereids- These Inpus live in the water and are almost impossible to find. They like to be alone and spend most of their time in the water hiding but can come on dry land for a short period of time. These Inpus have small gills on their abdomen.
Elysians- These Inpus have halos and wings. They are considered the rarest type of Inpus and considered to be almost sentient beings. When an Elysian flies they leave a trail of glowing light, but there are no particles in the stream of light. Elysian Inpus have an adept level of magic use and have one major ability and one minor ability (major being like the ability to conjure and minor being like the ability to grow a single flower). They use their halos to control their magic which creates a bright glow around it. Every Elysians halo glows differently and there are no colors that could be considered rare as they are already rare creatures. Some say that these Inpus were the first ever Inpus brought into existence to help create the inpus world and to help it prosper.
Now a days All inpus have an adept use of magic and can learn new magic with hard work and good teachers. Some say that an Inpus that is from a direct line from the Originals have a specific mark somewhere on their bodies. But its been a long time since those marks have been seen and the bloodlines were seperate.
Language
Inpus do not speak a human language. When a non Inpus hears them speak it sounds like soft bird tweeting. Inpus can learn to understand and speak other languages but it's very hard for them to do and is very rarely done.
Appearance
Inpus are a humanoid species standing between 3-5 inches tall. Their skin tones are always natural. They have a wide variety of body shapes. Leafy antenne, leafy anklets, leafy hips ( at least 2 are required for all Inpus to have). These leafs have been seen in various lengths and shades of green. An Inpus can cut their leafs and they will keep growing. It is common for an Inpus to have bonded with an animal and have sprouted their ears. All Inpus have the ability to do this. Once bonded with the animal they can choose to sprout the animal ears or keep their humanoid ears. Inpus create their own clothes from a mix of plants and cloth so their fashion is unique to each Inpus. They’ve also been known to find doll clothes to alter to fit themselves.
All Inpus have at least two of the following features: leafy antennas, leafy hips, leafy anklets
Lifespan
An Inpus can live to be 800 years old. They age in a similar way to elves. During the early years of their lives Inpus only have the leafy traits. They don't develop their other traits until they are ‘toddlers’ which is considered around 50 years old. When an Inpus dies their entire body will grow moss and plants and become one with nature again no matter what type they are.
Habitat
Any forest on any planet is where you can find Inpus. They adapt to the world around them as needed. They do live outside of the forests and in cities with other species but it's not very common due to their small size and the danger big places have. However if in a city you can look for Inpus anywhere a large gathering of plants are. Inpus homes are typically made of sticks, leaves, and random trinkets found in the forest
Diet
Inpus are mostly omnivores. They scavenge in the forests they live in to get their food. Most Inpus will have a stockpile of seeds and sun dried fruits in their homes so they don't have to scavenge during winter. Inpus love berries of all sorts. For meat Inpus will hunt small birds and mice.
Behavior
Inpus act like a regular human when interacting with each other, they have all human emotions and understanding of their kind. Inpus do sometimes become jealous of others abilities but they learn to overcome that jealousy. However some Inpus that don't can become corrupt and their leafy parts become rotted/wilted (will work more on that concept later)
Inpus also become lethargic and wilted if they don't have Inpus or plant interaction for a long period of time. Hence why it's rare to see them in large cities or places with other larger species. Inpus regenerate their energy from nature as that's where they came from so being away from nature longer kills them. Being around other Inpus increase happiness as well. So they're free to choose their own jobs and stuff like that.
Other species interaction
Inpus tend to stick to themselves in their small communities as they are stronger together than apart. However when an Inpus does interact with a docile species they are actually quite curious. They don’t approach other species right away and will immediately hide if spotted during their curious stalking. If an intelligent species they will study their behavior and find the best way to approach. If it's a docile animal in the forest, an Inpus will approach without hesitation.
Some Inpus have been known to be pets for humanoids. These Inpus are well taken care of by their large owner and are willingly living with them. Most of these Inpus live in farm houses.
Corrupt Inpus
These Inpus are poisonous and very dangerous. Once corrupted they can not be cured. For an Inpus to become corrupted they need to have very little access to healthy plant life and Inpus interaction. If an Inpus becomes too depressed or has the constant feeling of loneliness they will start to wilt. Being away from healthy plant life will also cause wilting but at a more rapid rate. If an inpus stays wilted for too long they will start to rot. Once Inpus starts rotting they become corrupted.This process changes the Inpus making them evil and nasty and their leafs to become dead. Corrupt Inpus grow spores of fungus all over their bodies. These spores are toxic and can be used to harm predators or Inpus. Once corrupted, inpus have no good intentions towards other creatures and are always ready to fight.
To stop the wilting process an inpus needs a special sap to rub on their leaves. This sap gives Inpus a small life boost that stops the wilting for 1 month so they can get more help. However a depressed or lonely Inpus is less likely to search for the special sap therefore become corrupted.
Most live in cities and torture other beings with nasty tricks and pranks.Corrupted inpus are rare to find in the forest but not impossible. Those found are hidden away waiting for their prey to fall into their nest.
Reproduction
Inpus do not have normal reproductive organs. Females will sprout a small bud on their body during spring and fall, its most commonly seen where a tail would be. Once the bud is big enough it is removed and planted in a pot. Buds can be saved to fertilize during other seasons with a special potion poured into the dirt. The potion stops the bud from blooming until fertilized.
Males have a fertilizing dust within their leafs that they release on the bud to bring it to life and fully bloom. Buds need the dust to bring the Inpus to life. When the bud fully opens a small Inpus baby will be curled up inside. They will have only their main leafy features at this stage. When they are ‘toddlers’ they will start to exhibit their Inpus types features.
