Work in progress

A lot of the art is temporary or unfinished, and many entries still need writing. However, I wanted to have an up-to-date lore page on here and this is taking a long time to put together, so I am posting it now.

Dragons

Technically once demons themselves, dragons originated from the Other Realm eons ago. Powerfully magical beings, dragons are capable of shapeshifting at will and can be rather difficult to find.

Should a dragon reveal itself to you, one should be just as concerned about its teeth, its claws, its tail, and its immense size just as much as you are its proficiency for wild magic.

As is the case with most creatures from beyond the veil who now live amongst our kind, when the Gods were sealed beyond their ancestors found themselves trapped on this side of the veil. In the millenia since, they have naturalised and become a part of our world.

In fact, there exists individuals who have formed partnerships with dragons as rider and mount, much like one might with a chickén—if your chickén could turn into anything it wants and backtalk you, that is.

Dragonlings

Long thought to be but a childish figment of the imagination, dragonlings are the much smaller cousins of dragons.

Incredibly shy and capricious, the only way to see a dragonling is to hatch one, for without a bond to hold them they'll disappear as soon as they sense you.

Not much is known about their abilities, but the few people lucky enough to possess such a creature speak of the vivid imagery and emotions these creatures use to communicate. It is thought that dragonlings exist for every colour that there are of dragons, but only a few have been discovered.

Draconoids

Distant cousins of the ancient dragons, their origins are unclear and thought perhaps to be not unlike that of cambions.

Unlike their draconic relatives, they do not have the ability to shapeshift—though, one might be surprised to discover that someone you thought was a draconoid was in fact a dragon in disguise all along..!

Like their draconic cousins and cambions, they are often naturally adept at using wild magic, and their appearances mirror that of their larger relatives.

There are 6 known distinct types of draconics, distinguished primarily by their colour.

They possess a striking golden plumage, an almost beak-like snout, and a long body adorned with 4 wings.

Golden dragons are typically most active at sunrise, where their shimmering golden feathers make them surprisingly difficult to make out in the warm golden light.

Though not related to dragons, leviathans are often grouped together with them due to their superficially similar appearances.

Leviathans are powerful elemental beings willed into existance by the Goddess of storm and sea, Rhodesma.

During the War of the Gods, the first leviathan rose from the depths of the ocean as her champion, an embodiment of her rage and power. The people called it many things—the final judgement, Rhodesma's fury, the Tempest... And from its powerful storms was born the first undine—Ondine, for whom all undines share a namesake.

On occasion, leviathans still rise from the ocean's depths today, spelling surest destruction to any ships and causing powerful floodings to all unfortunate enough to be caught in its wake.
