Before discovery by the current population, Dusthaven was an unknown, or at least very little known, world. It had been noted down as a null planet (Null 62) because probes could not see through the thick layer of dust.
After research carried out by the settlers, it was discovered an old civilisation had once lived there underground. They appeared to be on the same intelligence level, if not higher, as humans and were adapted to live in the harsh climate. The art painted on walls and in disintergrating books only showed the animals of the planet and never what the population looked like, and as yet no one has been able to decipher the language the books were written in.
So far, only a small portion of the planet has been explored, due to both the dust and the fact half of the planet is frozen over from barely ever being in the sunlight. The northern half of Dusthaven is relitively warm and light, whereas the southern half is mostly held within darkness and cold.
