HISTORY

Lumiose Village was founded by a worshiper of Xerneas who established a church around a young tree, and from there a settlement grew. The settlement, like others around the land, was targeted by wild Pokémon. Large groups of people tend to attract more Pokémon, which increases the dangers. The protective walls of Lumiose Village helped, but it was not a solution to all the troubles of dealing with the dangers of the wilds.

During one attack of a wild machoke who had broken through the wall a large black bird landed in the settlement, and swiftly brought it down. From the Pokémon’s back was a woman who used an object to capture the Machoke. A Poké Ball. After giving the Machoke to the town’s leader she offered to train a few individuals on how to craft Poké Balls, how to befriend Pokémon, and how to use them in battle for protection. She offered safety and protection to the others through her knowledge and powerful Corviknight, and from there the town population exploded. Nomads and other humans who had been spread around the land gathered for protection, and as people gathered their own talents and skills helped the town grow faster.

After training up others and teaching them how to capture their own Pokémon the knight traveled once again eventually establishing her own castle and order of knights to the south west of the city.

About 30 years have passed since the village’s founding and it’s now a flourishing settlement with churches, taverns, and entertainment. There’s still much to learn about Pokémon, but the people of Lumiose have managed to get used to Pokémon assisting them in their everyday lives.

Outside of the modern village there are seven clans which are known for their Pokémon expertise. These groups formed when individuals from the early days of Lumiose Village set out to spread the teaching and technology of capturing Pokémon to smaller settlements.

While the freedom of living off the land may appeal to those in the Pokémon Clans, those groups have found their numbers dwindling as many are in favor of living within the protective walls of Lumiose Village.
