You don't have to draw a reference or submit a design approval for Cobble Town characters, because I'm trusting you guys to make reasonable decisions and be cool. (Don't make me regret this.) Go ahead and make your guy your own - as long as they read as a standard member of their species, as opposed to a variant / anthro version / fusion / etc. But if some guidelines would help you, then refer to the visual guide below.
Additional tips:
- All types of accessories and clothing are completely free & up to you. You can dress your guys in fullbody concealing costumes if you want. They should clearly read as accessories, though - nothing that looks like it's permanently attached to the Pokemon.
- Gender has been abolished in Cobble Town. If your character's species has gender differences, you can mix and match them freely. (For species with drastic gender differences like Frillish or Meowstic, they should read clearly as one version with minor traits of the other for recognizability purposes.) Don't worry about gender-restricted evolutions either.
- Don't worry too much about Pokedex sizes. If you want to make a character who is considered notably tall/short in-universe, though, +-20% of the Pokedex size is a good range.
