Error!Data Corrupted wip
AU creator: Elbera
Steven Universe ERROR!Data_Corrupted is an AU story centered around Homeworld and its unusual obstacles created after the gem war. The story explores what would have happened if the final evacuation from Earth diiiidn't go exactly as plaaaanned... The whole premise started as an unfinished comic on Amino 2018, where the main protagonists were the original cast of SU show. Since then, the story evolved into a mostly oc-focused series with a tiny room for a few canon characters such as Hessonite, Pyrope, or corrupted gems.
Story
The story is divided into three main segments:
- Weaving the beginning ✦ (everything before the year 3949 B.S.)
- Error!Data_Corrupted ✦ (from 3949 to 3370 B.S.)
- File_Secured ✦ (everything after 3370 to era 3, the VAST majority of events still happen before Steven's birth)
There are also a few spinoff series that won't be discussed in this world too often:
- Weaver's thread ✦ (everything before era 1)
- Data_restored ✦ (the entirety of era 3)
- Core_overwrite ✦ (fanmade era 4)
1.Weaving the beginning
Ever since Pink Diamond was seemingly shattered, Earth's inevitable demise was slowly approaching. Once even the great war commander, Hessonite, had lost her prism, Homeworld arranged rushed plans for abandoning the colony. The goal was simple- evacuate Homeworld citizens and destroy the remaining Crystal Gems with the power of diamonds themselves, all while sacrificing some low-rank soldiers to distract the rebels from attacking the evacuating civilians. Each step was perfectly timed, with no window for exceptions or delays.
Despite being uninformed, many of the sacrificial warriors realized mid-fight what fate awaited them. Therefore, they decided to disobey their last orders and retrieve to the Galaxy Warp, causing chaos as well as prolonging the evacuation. By the time the diamond light hit the Earth, the teleporter was still active, enabling the light to travel through it as well. Even though the warp lessened the laser's effects, the unfortunate gems still inside were partially corrupted by it. Horrified Homeworld, of course, didn't take this well. Everyone who was found that day corrupted, and didn't escape, had to be shattered or bubbled away.
Hundreds of years later, Homeworld has severely suffered from a lack of resources necessary for gem creation. The losses of workers caused by the war still hadn't been fixed. For this reason, a rather questionable decision was reinforced- free the semi-corrupts for a cheap labor.

Changes
Besides the main building block of the entire AU, aka gem corruption, changes to the original canon settings are minimalistic. The world not only tries its best to follow the main television series, but also uses canon facts from other media. From art books, podcasts with crewuniverse to video game series, everything counts. Since the story is set on Homeworld, influence from SU "Save the light" and "Unleash the light" games is especially important, if not more than the main tv series itself.
0. All gems are solar-powered ROBOTS
This isn't actually a deviation from the canon, but rather a confirmed fact (from an interview with CBR) many fans either don't use or know nothing about. Can't blame them, naming their species after gemstones is misleading. Considering how destabilizers work, gems regenerate, or rejuvenated Pearl's movie song is officially called, their robotic nature feels obvious to me. Of course, this isn't the case for most people, so I rather put it here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
1. Gem shattering/revival
If you smash an irl computer and then put every hardware piece back together, would it really be repaired and have all its saved data? Of course not! Because of this, shattered gems in the AU CAN'T BE REVIVED in the vast majority of cases. If it is somehow accomplished, the revived gem will suffer from permanent health issues.
2. Canon Demantoid isn't a prism-bearer
Why? Simple- Canon Demantoid is in the main story timeline still too young (or not even born) to deserve such artifact. Her prism instead owns an oc garnet called Leuco 1H3.
3. Altered Pyrope
She still follows Blue diamond here + isn't as lazy... YET. I headcanon that Pyrope is, because of Blue's grief, currently the most important gem in her court. As time goes on, her power spoils her above everything, even maintaining her own prideful colony.
4. Revamped Watermelon Tourmaline
Tourmaline's AU look is a mix of her original SU corruption+gemstone, partially SUF's design and my own twist. The fact her SUF interpretation is a fusion with gemstones in her eyes is completely scrapped. She also has a nickname "Puffer", shares a backstory with one of my main characters, and possesses abilities of the elbaite species. Her being a Crystal Gem left on Earth hasn't changed.
5. White Diamond is evil.
I wanted her to be a villain, you likely wanted it too. I do not care, she's not redeemable here. Is this my way of coping? -Yes.
6. Multicourt gems
When I was still new to the fandom, I had wrongly assumed canon Emerald wore simultaneously Yellow's and Blue's attire. Because of this, I put some of my high-ranked gems under multiple diamonds too. I feel this divergence is completely harmless, hence why it's still around.
