Octolotles are unique semi-aquatic creatures. Being a hybrid of octopus and axolotl, they have absorbed the best abilities of these two species
Where they live?
Octolotles live off the shores of a coral reef feeding on plankton, algae and small fish. These coral reefs are located in a unique ecosystem of mangroves, creating ideal conditions for that species. In the case of a hunger strike Octolotles do not disdain cannibalism, especially if Octolotl is severely exhausted after throwing eggs. And even the protection of offspring remains a lottery for the survival of their fry.
They usually live in small groups of 5 to 20 individuals, helping each other, protecting offspring or pregnant ones
Regeneration
If a limb is damaged or lost, adults calmly regrow it. This process also occurs with the regeneration of organs, which allows them to remain babies for almost a long time. But not the tail. If there is no tail, the individual dies instantly, because there are many blood vessels in this organ, so the tentacles protect it. Their blood is blue or green.
Stress situations
In case of special danger Octolotles can change color of their skin. But it's important that they don't look like all the colors of the rainbow (stay tunned for reference sheet for that!). With great fear and stress - black patterns appear; with anger - red ones! Or they hide in various narrow shelters due to the plasticity of the body and its slippery texture that does not wash off in water. It plays the role of protection against damage and penetration of various infections.
Breathing
The respiratory system of Octolotles occurs through the skin and lungs. Therefore they can go out on land. There is a very rare mutation that the lungs replace the gills of an Octolotl - then Octolotl remains only in the water without the opportunity to go on land (and that Octolotl will be kinda sick all the time)
