Winged

  • Scientific NameHomo Sapien Aves
  • ClassGreater Species
  • UniverseElemental Earth
  • Average height5'5"-5'9"
  • Average Weight110-150 lbs

Winged are one of the four major, or "Greater" species within Elemental Earth along with Humans, Lizo, and Kegtoko. Being a greater species means they are treated more alongside and like humans, as apposed to being more like an animal.

Wings

The most obvious visual things about the winged are...well the wings. A winged can have either two or four white wings. Four wings are the most dominate over two wings, and two wings are dominate over having no wings at all. The wingspan of a winged is on average double the height of the winged, with each wing being about as long as they are tall. Though of course there are variations to wing size a Winged can have (see below). The feathers on the wings are typically really soft, and require a lot of care to keep them from being ragged.

Wing Sizes

Wings can have different variations in their size. While average sizes are the most common, various size differences are not uncommon either. Though the different sizes can have different effects on the Winged themselves

  • Large: Besides average size, this is the most common variation of wing size in a Winged. That being larger wings. Winged with this size tend to be able to learn to fly at a younger age than average, though not by long. These Winged can also tend to pick up larger and heavier objects and carry them while flying. Though they tend to get more back problems because of their wings earlier in life than other Winged do. (Examples: Brii, Matthew)
  • Average: This is the most common variant of wing size. Winged with this size learn to fly around average age, 8 years~ and will be able to keep up flying up until their late 50s-60s~. These Winged tend to have the least problems and experiences because of their sizes (Examples: Elliot, Sky, Myra)
  • Small: This wing size tends to be smaller than average. This is most commonly occurred with Winged that have dual pairs. These Winged can still fly, but tend to struggle more and cannot fly as far or long as other Winged. If a Winged with dual pairs loses a wing, they will not be able fly with just two, when a Winged with average or large size wings possibly could. (Example: Isaac)
  • Tiny:  The least common wing variant, tends to happen in single pair wings and Half-wings. Because of the very small wing size, they most likely will be unable to fly even if someone is a full Winged. Though these Winged tend to not get the spinal and back issues that the other Winged tend to get, and if they do its far later in life. (Examples: Summer, Elizabeth)

Hollow Bones

Having wings isn't the only thing that's needed for the winged to be able to fly. As such, they ended up adapting to have hollow bones. These hollow bones allow the winged to be much lighter than a human at the same height. And because of this, Winged typically have to keep a close watch of their weight, or they could risk being too heavy to fly.

Fire Immunity

Since Winged were originally mutations of fire users, naturally some aspects will stay. While most of the original fire attributes have since no longer been a part of the Winged species for years, there is one part that stays, is the immunity to fire. The fire immunity was useful for the winged at the time that they were first appearing, so the immunity ended up staying, allowing them to withstand strong fires as well as extreme heat to a degree. At the same time, they're not very fireproof on the inside, so they can still get burned on the inside of their bodies.

Half-Wing

Humans and Winged have such similar genetics to each other, that they're able to breed with each other. The hybrid that is created from that is called a Half-Wing. Half-wings will have the wings of the winged parent, two or four depending on the parent. But, the hollow bones are a recessive gene, meaning that a half-wing will be unable to fly. Though, the Half-wing can have the elemental power of the human parent.

Origins

The first winged are pretty different than the ones known now. Originally, winged were just a mutation of fire user humans, giving them wings. No one is sure how this mutation came to be, just that it started popping up among fire users. The wings alone didn't give them the ability to fly however, but over time, and generations of winged humans breeding with others, they started developing their own set of skills to actually be able to fly. Though through this they lost many of the abilities of being fire users, the only thing still remaining to this day being the fire immunity.

Conflict with humans

As the Winged started to grow into their own species, conflicts started arising with the humans. The Winged wanted to be able to live and thrive on their own, while the humans didn’t want the winged species to grow. This eventually led to fights constantly breaking out between the species, fights that wouldn’t end until the other two greater species eventually stepped in to stop them.

The legend of the Demon

For the longest time among the winged, there has been a legend that went around. No one really understand how this started, though some believed it was started by ancient humans to scare the Winged. It talks about the eight winged demon, who would cause destruction to the winged one day. The Eight winged demon would have eight black wings, instead of the typical two or four white ones, and can go into a demon like state from bad injuries or strong negative emotions. In reality, this is a very rare mutation that can happen, and can happen to any of the greater species, with different attributes for each species it happens to.
