The World of Umbros is a world not unlike our own but at the same time much...much different. It is inhabited by many creatures great and small. Some even recognizable to many creatures us humans believe to be myth. For them though they are very real. As of now the focus is on the Ixmali. Believed to be the most advanced of the species on Umbros.

Ixmali bodies can come in any shape and size. They are very much an anthropomorphic digitigrade species with a body type more closely resembling a human. -Their feet have 4 toes and pads on the bottom. Claws on their feet are retractable and most often used for climbing. They evolved to have 2 fingers on their hands and 1 thumb. Nobody is actually sure why but they get along better than fine with them. Claws on their hands are not retractable but can be trimmed down. Their ears are “feathered” on the edges. It is not actual feathers just the style. They have ear fluff on the inside which is important for muting sounds as they have excellent hearing. Without it sounds would be too loud. They have double fangs in their mouths that do show a little. One is longer and the other one short They have a raptor like dew claw on the outside of their foot at the ankle level. Their faces, if you were to describe them are like a cross between a cat and a fox. The muzzle in males is more cat like and short, whereas females have a narrower muzzle Average height is anywhere between 5’0 and 8’ tall. Males of the race are generally taller. They are an extremely intelligent race that specialize in science and engineering and many of their cities and towns are huge, sprawling metropolis’ that are very 19th Century Victorian Steampunk.

Ixmali have magial powers thanks to artifacts. Artifacts are given in a coming of age ceremony. They are the sole source of this species being able to use magic. They tie strongly to the blood, inner chi and temperament of the Ixmal, hence why they have a coming of age/finding your spirit path ceremony. There will be types but they tie with earth elements and dark/light. So Fire, Earth, Air, Wind, Water, Dark, Light, Sound. They are given 1 in each hand. The process of it fusing can be very painful but after a few days the pain subsides. In order to get their Artifacts they go through a coming of age ceremony at age 17 where they must be balanced mind, body, and spirit. The ceremony places them into a solitary setting for one month without the use of technology and they must by the end commune with their guardian spirit. Once that happens, the spot on their hands where the Artifact is to be fused glows. The Ixmal will then return to the elders and have their Artifact fused to them.

Those who are royals and the leaders of the Ixmali have a few defining features that are specific to them. They are born with an Artifact already in their chest. It grows as they age up until maturity and no bigger than a softball usually.They go through the coming of age ceremony and get the other 2 as well. Making the total number of artifacts they can have 3 They can have eyes with 4+ colors on the iris -hey have a dragon like tail. They don’t have to have that but those higher up in the royal line do have some type of draconic looking tail. They have the double ear trait
