what are archane artists?

They make Archane adoptables for the group!

permanent artist

These artists are able to make as many adopts as they wish, and as long as they produce at least one adopt per cycle, they will remain as Permanent Artists and do not have to reapply each Cycle.

guest artist

These artists are able to make EITHER 2 separate adopts OR 1 batch of 4 adopts. Current guest artists must re-apply each cycle to renew their application.

How to Apply

the application form is NOW CLOSED!

➤ Only applications sent through this form BEFORE THE DEADLINE will be valid.

➤ Please keep in mind that this is an Application form, NOT a Sign Up form. Admins will be selecting candidates based on the strength of their applications.

➤ Accepted artists must join the species Discord Server if they haven't already, as the species HQ is there!

➤ We will contact all accepted candidates after April 30th.

➤ Please understand it is nothing personal if a candidate is not chosen. Please reach out to us if you would like to know how to strengthen your application next time.

➤ We will be selecting 5 to 10 Guest Artists depending on the amount of applications.

➤ We will be selecting 1 or 2 new Permanent Artists. If we don't choose you as a Permanent Artists we might still ask you to be a guest artist.

➤ If accepted, artists will have 2 months to complete their chosen batch. No extensions will be granted, so please be sure you can manage your time responsibly.

Artist Policies

➤ Each "cycle" for permanent and guest artists will last 2 months. Artists must manage the 2-month time frame responsibly, as absolutely no extensions will be given.

➤ Any artists that do not make any adopts their cycle cannot apply for the cycle immediately following. This is to give more chances to new artists that are eager to contribute!

➤ If unsold adopts remain after an artist's cycle has ended, the artist may claim it IF they have the slot and upgrade options on their account to pay for it.

➤ Administrators may create adopts at any time as well, though they must have their designs approved before selling.

➤ Please be clear in your adopt postings if you will allow voids of your Archane adopts or not!

➤ Using bases is fine, but be sure you have permission to use them and give proper credits for the base in your adopt listing!

➤ Adopts must be full body, fully colored with clean lineart. Chibis are totally fine as well.

➤ Artists should review the blacklist to be aware of the accounts forbidden from obtaining adopts.

Factors to consider

➤ Although we welcome any style or skill level when it comes to submissions and MYOs, we do expect adopts to be rendered in a polished, clean fashion with crisp details. Please keep the detail/skill level of previous adopts in mind when applying.

➤ To be considered for Permanent Artist, all artists must first serve as a Guest Artist. Guest artists that create 4 adopts during their cycle are more likely to be considered for promotion, as it gives us more examples to consider.

➤ We expect all Archane Artists to be reasonably active in the server/species, but Permanent Artists especially so. This is another key factor we consider when members apply for Permanent Artist.

designing and uploading adopts

➤ IF you are accepted you can make Archanes of any rarity: Common - Mythical traits.

➤ AkumaFox must approve the designs before you put any adopts up for sale. To get approval, you must DM her your finalized design with the traits and flowers/gems you used.

➤ You may also use the #artist-adopt-checks channel to get general feedback on the design from other admins/artists.

➤ If you are accepted as a Guest artist you must choose whether you are going to do 1 batch of 4, or 2 separate Adoptables
(you cannot do both!)

payment information

Adopts can be sold via set price or auction for $USD with PayPal/Venmo!

Adopts can only be sold via DA Points if the price is $35 or less.

We do not allow adopts to be sold via vouchers, art payments etc.

Please note that royalties are due to the creator based on the sold price for each adopt.

This is a standard tax to be able to profit off the closed species.

➤ Tier 1: $100+ / Adopt - 25% to AkumaFox

➤ Tier 2: $36-$99 / Adopt - 15% to AkumaFox

➤ Tier 3: $35 or less / Adopt - 0% to AkumaFox

Archane Copyright Policy

If a case of intentional copying, with proof, is brought to the admin's attention, there will be disciplinary action against the offending party (the owner of the newer design). This could include revoking MYO slots, voiding designs, or even ejection from the species.

If an adopt has already been sold and determined to have an infringing design, the original artist may either: refund the adoptable OR offer to tweak the existing adopt. If the artist cannot remit a refund and are not able to assist with tweaking the adopt, then the buyer may work with the admins to redesign parts of the oc. No action will be taken against the artist unless more than one of their adopt designs are shown to be infringing.

If the owner of an already-approved design brings it to the attention to staff that a new MYO or adopt has a concerning level of similarity, you may be asked to change aspects of your design. Members are encouraged to come to the admins at any time if they find a design they feel is too similar to their already-approved design.

This policy will run on member-reported cases only. Admins will not go policing on behalf of members for similarities they see or report to an artist that they "found a copycat design."

If a member is found to be using this policy to bully other artists by flagging designs for personal reasons, when they are determined not to be infringements, disciplinary action will be taken against them as well.

This is the checklist admins will use to determine if a flagged design is indeed an infringement:

Design Case Checklist

Same trait combination.
Same flower/gem combo.
Same color palette used in the same places.
Same horn shape and placement, especially if the shape is not the typical spike.
Very similar clothing.
Same "unique features" like a chipped ear, tattoos, scars etc. in the same place OR exact same design.
Screenshots, overlays or other kinds of proof for tracing, stealing references, etc. Time stamps are also helpful.

An infringing design will have 4 to 6 of these, depending.
