Standard Koltherians, Kites, Koltuks, Sphinxes, and Leviathans will normally have 1 base colour and between 1-4 marking colours.
Koltherites and Kovenites will normally have 1 base colour and between 1-6 marking colours!

REQUIRED BASICS

⍟ SIX EYES ⍟
Kovs across the board all share the same unique eye placement.

This requires three sets of eyes on the head! Please view above art for examples. 

⍟ COLOURED BLOOD ⍟
Kovs typically have a heavily pigmented blood. The colour is up to you with a couple restrictions!

The blood cannot be 100% black.
The blood cannot be 100% white.
The blood cannot be 100% transparent.
The blood colour must be visible on [unless a trait says otherwise]: 
Nostrils, innerflesh, eyes, ears, claws, and any blushing on the body.


⍟ WINGS ⍟
Kovs have wings! As a species with three sets of limbs, wings are a must [unless a trait says otherwise]. Wings should have between 3-6 digits and be webbed like a bat's or dragon's. 

Spines cannot be placed on the wing membrane but may be placed on the fingers of the digits!
Wings may be hidden on all Kov types but there may be some visual restrictions - please check type info.

⍟ FIVE-DIGIT HANDS AND FEET ⍟
All Kov types have five fingers and five toes. 

All kov types have hand-like back feet capable of grasping. 
Sphinx anatomy may stretch out digit placement, but the same rules apply for fingers and toes!
If it is made apparent, your character may have missing fingers or toes or whole limbs altogether! 
Basic prosthetics and basic high-tech prosthetics are fair use.
Prosthetic limbs cannot be capable of shifting outside of what would be typical between forms.
[OK: a digitigrade leg becoming plantigrade between half and true forms] 
[NOT OK: a prosthetic arm turning into a sword/hiding blades]
NOTE: cybernetic eyes are not currently available. Simple prosthetics are.

COMMON TRAITS

⍟ Standard Spines ⍟
[ typical shaped spines that are shorter than a hand's length ]

⍟ Scale Spines ⍟
[ spines that are shorter than a hand's length and are stout and layered like scales ]

⍟ Crook Head ⍟
[ a head shape that has a lowered nose bridge - think like a dog's! ]

⍟ Bowhead ⍟
[ a head shape that bows outwards and creates a curved slope to the bridge of the nose ]

⍟ Panthera Markings ⍟
[ a marking modifier that creates a specific pattern over the top of all other markings ]

⍟ Cleft Ears ⍟
[ typical length ears that have notches in them ]

⍟ Raptor Claws + Spurs ⍟
[ Large claws or spurs that extend from the thumb, ankle or wrist joint ]


⍟ Haloes ⍟
[ a trait that allows for holes of varying sizes in the ears and wing membranes of a Kov ]

⍟ Droopy Ears ⍟
[ typical length ears that are droopy to any degree - can affect only one ear if you wish! ]

⍟ Coloured Ears ⍟
[ inner ear pigment that matches a colour on the body but does not match the blood ]

⍟ Coloured Eyes ⍟
[ eye colour that matches a colour on the body but does not match the blood ]

⍟ Root Spines ⍟
[ spines that grow up towards the spine from anywhere on the body ]

⍟ Harpoon Spines ⍟
[ spines that grow forwards towards the nose from anywhere on the body ]

⍟ Hook Spines ⍟
[ spines that are slightly curled and look similar to fishing hooks ]

⍟ Short Tail ⍟
[ any tail that is shorter than the length of the character's leg ]

⍟ Asymmetrical Spines ⍟
[ applies to any spines that do not grow in typical mirrored fashion down the midline ]

⍟ Long Ears ⍟
[ ears that are longer than the length of the head but shorter than the length of the arm ]

⍟ Round Tongue ⍟
[ this trait makes a Kov's tongue rounded in shape rather than the standard forked ]


⍟ Round Ears ⍟
[ ears that are heavily rounded in shape; bear or mouse-like ]


⍟ barbels ⍟
[ a Kov will have barbels that can grow from anywhere on the head ]

⍟ tusk teeth ⍟
[ a pair of teeth in the lower jaw will grow into tusks which may be as large as a hand ]

⍟ sabre teeth ⍟
[ a pair ofteeth in the upper jaw will grow into sabre teeth that may be as long as a hand ]

⍟ Blacklight Markings ⍟
[ per application: one marking colour may appear bright in the dark as if it were under a black light ]

⍟ Gradient Markings ⍟

[ the marking colors on the body bleed into a gradient of up to three colors ]

⍟ Plain Face ⍟
[ a Kov's face loses the standard wedge shape and takes on a softer, more rounded head - can effect only the nose or both nose and chin ]

⍟ Tailless ⍟
[ oops! no tail! ]

⍟ Spineless ⍟

[ Totally spineless, nakey ]

⍟ Rosepetal Ears ⍟
[ ears will look shriveled, almost flowerpetal-like ]

⍟ Quill Spines ⍟
[ these narrow spines are long and flexible and are between the length of a hand and a full arm ]

⍟ Spliced Ears ⍟
[ ears may split halfway or result in a secondary pair of ears ]

⍟ Spliced Tail ⍟
[ a Kov's tail may split any amount up to halfway up the tail ]

⍟ Rabbit Ears ⍟
[ long ears that are over the length of an arm - these ears do not need droopy to hang limp ]

⍟ Dwarfism ⍟
[ a Kov will have a shortened stature - both arms and legs will be substantially shorter than average ]

⍟ Hooded ⍟
[ Kovs with this trait will have an extra fold of skin connecting the ears to the neck or shoulders ]

⍟ Caped ⍟
[ Kovs with this trait will have an extra fold of skin connecting anywhere on the body below the shoulders ]

⍟ Fan Ears ⍟
[ ears that have scalloped and overlapping fancy segments on the outside edge of the ear ]

⍟ Eye Markings ⍟
[ a specific fashion gene, this creates eye markings on the body that overlay all other markings and do not count towards the colour total - eye markings may match the blood colour or glow ]

⍟ Stellaris ⍟
[ a specific fashion gene, this creates a map of star-like markings across the body complete with constellations and crosshair-type symbols - the star spots may glow ]

⍟ Underdeveloped Eyes ⍟
[ per application: one or one set of a Kov's eyes do not fully develop - may only be applied twice ]


⍟ Nocol Eyes ⍟
[ a Kov's eyes do not match the colour of the blood or any colours on the body ]


⍟ Nocol Ears ⍟
[ a Kov's inner ear colour does not match the colour of the blood or any colours on the body ]


⍟ Curled Spines ⍟
[ heavily curled spines - that's it! ]


⍟ Reversal Markings ⍟
[ the colour of a Kov's markings are reversed from one side to the other ]


⍟ Gradient Innards ⍟
[ a Kov's tongue, mouth, and inner ear will appear with a gradient of up to three colours ]


⍟ Fur Sheen ⍟
[ a Kov's hair or fur will appear highly glossy ]


⍟ Sparkle ⍟
[ per application: Sparkle! Sparkle! this trait cannot leave the body and only adds a glitter effect to one marking at a time or the base ]


⍟ Mottled Markings ⍟
[ per application: this allows for heavily textured pigmentation to a marking ]


⍟ Chimerism ⍟
[ allows a Kov to express two different marking plans at once - this can be mottled or evenly split down the midline ]


⍟ Hydra ⍟
[ this trait allows a Kov to have an extra head - these Kovs are often conjoined twins and each head will function independent of the other(s) ]

⍟ Melanism ⍟
[ a Kov that displays melanism will have hyperpigmented skin - markings, base, eyes, and innards will be overlaid with a very dark version of the blood colour ]


⍟ Albinism ⍟
[ a Kov that displays albinism will appear very washed out and diluted - the markings and base will appear white with a slight tint of blood-colour, the eyes and innards will remain vibrantly blood-coloured ]

⍟ Bleached ⍟
[ a Kov will have a light gradient overlaying all markings starting at the head, arms, or tail ]


⍟ Stained ⍟
[ a Kov will have a dark gradient overlaying all markings starting at the head, arms, or tail ]


⍟ Piebald ⍟
[ a Kov will have white patches appear across the body affecting only the markings - this does not change the colour of the eyes, nostrils, nails, blushing, or mouth ]


⍟ Vitiligo ⍟
[ a Kov will have white patches appear across the body affecting all layers of colour - this does change the colour of the eyes, nostrils, nails, blushing, or mouth where it overlaps ]


⍟ Overgrown ⍟
[ per application: this trait allows teeth, claws, or spines to appear much larger than normal ]

⍟ Unique Spines ⍟
[ this trait covers spine shapes not covered in the traits list ]

⍟ Crowned ⍟
[ this trait allows for spines on the head to grow connected to other spines or create hoops ]

⍟ Total Coverage ⍟
[ a Kov's spine coverage across the body is 75% or higher ]

⍟ Nose Pad ⍟
[ Kovs with this trait will develop a tough skin patch on the nose that will appear the same colour as the blood ]

⍟ Antlers ⍟
[ a Kov with this trait will grow antlers that will shed seasonally ]

⍟ Seasonal Shift ⍟
[ this trait allows a Kov to have up to four seasonal colour variations - markings do not change ]

⍟ Open Heart ⍟
[ this base modifier creates a heavily blood-pigmented area on the chest that can be seen through all markings ]

⍟ Clouded Base ⍟
[ the base colour of a Kov will appear mottled or clouded - cannot be more than two colours ]


⍟ False Wings ⍟
[ an introduction from the Leviathan Project, this trait creates underdeveloped wings in Kovs - these underdeveloped wings will look and function like long hands ]

⍟ Fourth Form ⍟
[ this trait allows Kovs to take on the form of something else entirely - can be other species but permission and approval is required between both groups ]

⍟ Body Wings ⍟
[ per application: extra sets of wings can be added across the body of a Kov - these wings cannot be retracted like the standard wings ]

⍟ Spectrum ⍟
[ this marking modifier creates a full spectrum gradient that changes with the direction of light - think HOLO ]

⍟ Belly Plates ⍟
[ thick spines grow to be almost scale-like along the underside/belly of a Kov ]

⍟ Keratin Body ⍟
[ keratinous growths can occur anywhere across the body - these often look like horn and will be the same colour as the blood/nails ]


⍟ Glass Blood ⍟
[ a Kov's blood will be completely pigmentless or incredibly diluted ]

⍟ Crested ⍟
[ non-Koltherite/Kovenite/Koltuk Kovs can grow crests on their heads ]


⍟ Glow Markings ⍟
[ a Kov can develop glowing markings that overlay standard markings ]


⍟ Glowing Innards ⍟
[ the insides of a Kov can glow - this will not be seen deep in the body and can only be seen with the eyes, ears, nostrils, and mouth ]


⍟ Fins ⍟
[ fins can grow anywhere on the body - can be fish-like or appear as webbing between spines ]


⍟ Arachnea ⍟
[ per application: let's add more eyes! ]


⍟ Missing Senses ⍟
[ a difficult and often fatal mutation - Kovs may be born with or somehow suddenly lose their eyes, ears, or mouth - nostrils are never affected ]

⍟ Spectral ⍟
[ the base of a Kov will become slightly transparent and allow for visible bones - bones can be light, dark, or blood-coloured ]

⍟ Tendrils ⍟
[ long, flexible tendrils can grow anywhere from the body ]

⍟ Maned ⍟
[ non-Koltuk Kovs can grow luxurious manes that only go as far as half-way down the shoulders ]

⍟ Rictus ⍟
[ the mouth of a Kov is extended far longer than normal ]

⍟ Scaled ⍟
[ this trait allows for Kovs to express actual scales on the body - can be fish-like or reptilian ]
