🚪 Trapdoor Creation

Jump to: Hatchling, Young, Youth, Adult

🌿 Rules 🌿

🌱 Regular MYO rules apply with the exception of the following:
🌱 This type of keke must be obtained through an adventure, event, etc... They are not open to make unless you've earned one!
🌱 Trapdoors are a Xavierian species [🪐]

🌿 Egg 🌿

Bristle-egg.png

🍃 Trapdoor eggs are known as "bristle eggs" for the mane of hair-like filaments that runs down one side of them. These bristles are tough and somewhat pokey to discourage anything from taking a nibble
🍃 When disturbed, bristles will react and raise into the air. This threat display is another layer of predator-prevention, but doesn't keep them safe from naughty hatchlings who think this is funny...
🍃 Manes are commonly a different color than the egg itself and may be brightly or dramatically colored so they look flashier when the bristles are up
🍃 Hatchlings are born with a big spike on their tails and they'll use this to break free of their shell once their egg has been soaked. Don't place them next to other eggs, lest they be in stabbing range...!
🍃 Eggs are not required for approvals! This is just info

🌿 Hatchling 🌿Trapdoor-hatchling.png

🍃 Door heads are more a wedge/triangle shape. Compared to your average keke, they'll appear to have a more slender snoot. Don't you dare make any doorstopper jokes, that's rude
🍃 The cheek pouches of a Trapdoor are more elongated like an oval rather than a circle! This can also help their head look sleeker and more elegant
🍃 Hatchlings start with no mane whatsoever and short ears. The fur they do have is thick and bristle-like - not good for petting at all!
🍃 Instead of having a baby fin, little Doors get baby wool! This goes on the tip of the tail and is super soft and curly. There's also little tufts of wool on the ears that obscure where the ear canals would be
🍃 The belly scales are cloud-like in shape, forming three small bumps per scale
🍃 Trapdoor hatchlings love exploring! And it's best to watch them carefully because their self-preservation can be... questionable. You see, they're born with a rather large spike on the tip of their tail and if something displeases or scares them, they will flail their tail horn at it. This is bad news for breakable furniture, walls, others, and possibly the baby itself

🌿 Hatchling Creation 🌿Trapdoor-MYO-hatchling-guide.png

🍂 1: Lines > Draw the base for your new Snakekey. Be sure to look at the anatomy examples above!
🍂 2: Base > Pick a base color. It can be any color as long as it's solid. Hatchlings don't have markings yet
🍂 3: Accent > One solid color. This goes on the cheek pouches, paw pads, blood, and tail horn
🍂 4: Belly scales > Goes on the belly scales, mouth/tongue, and wool. This can be any pure grey, white, or black (besides pitch black). "Pure" means it's not tinted any other color and is totally desaturated! Keke with white scales are warm-blooded and black scales are cold-blooded. Middle of the road greys can be either blood type - you can pick. In addition, a hatchling's face, tail tip, and/or limbs can be tinged the belly color. This can carry as far as halfway up each area and is an optional feature
🍂 5: Eyes > Eyes can be any color, but only one. By default, Snakekeys do not have visible pupils.
🍂 6: Description > You're ready to post your Snakekey! Please be sure to locate the form below, fill it out, and put it in the description
🍂 7: Submitting > Submit your finished MYO to the approval folder, which can be found here

🌿 Rules 🌿

🌱 Regular aging rules apply

🌿 Young 🌿Trapdoor-young.png

🍃 Young Doors grow a nubby little bump in the center of their foreheads. This doesn't bother them too much yet, but it will when that horn really starts coming in...!
🍃 The ears get much taller and elongate down to the base of the neck. These are highly mobile. Doors have an entire system of subtle ear gestures all their own that they use to communicate with each other! Youngs are missing quite a bit of length that it takes to "speak" ear-language fluently, but they can get started or use "baby versions" of more advanced motions
🍃 They loose a bit of fluff as their baby wool falls off, but it's more than made up for as the ear-wool extends down almost the whole of the body, stopping just short of the end of the naga tail. This is hollow in the middle, forming two "tracks" of wool rather than one big poof. It'll make more sense later...
🍃 Young Doors are quite nervous compared to their hatchling phase. They're constantly undertread as they try to get reassuring cuddles. The good news is that they're more careful with their tail horns and will practice maneuvering with it so there's no poky accidents!

🌿 Young Creation 🌿Trapdoor-young-aging-guide.png

🍂1: Lines > Start by drawing the base image for your keke. Be sure to follow the anatomy examples shown here
🍂 2: Base > Snakekeys get their bases as hatchlings - this step is done and you can move on!
🍂 3: Color method > Choose a coloring method below
🌼Method A: 0-1 colors that go on the ears only (note that there will be more ear as they age)
🌻Method B: 0-1 colors that go on the body only
🍂 4: Design > Design your Snakekey with the colors you've chosen! Trapdoor markings don't have size restrictions. They can even be gradients if desired. Be sure you've removed belly color tingeing if your Snakekey had any - they've grown out of it!
🍂 5: Description > You're ready to post your Snakekey! Please be sure to locate the form below, fill it out, and put it in the description.
🍂 6: Submitting > Submit your finished image to the aging approval folder, which can be found here

Art type: (The keke's, not yours)

🌿 Youth 🌿Trapdoor-youth.png

🍃 It's a good thing kids practice being careful with their horn because they're about to grow way more of them! Doors develop not only the horn on their foreheads, but a row down their spines. These initially come in short and nubby, growing to full size with the final growth spurt before adulthood. This is no consolation if you really liked blankets
🍃 Speaking of way more, the ears elongate all the way down to where the wool stops on the naga tail! Each ear goes on one side of the spinal spikes, staying separate rather than merging into one mega-ear
🍃 The ears can be held upright, obscuring the spikes, or flattened all the way down to the ground (if you're lying on your belly, that is)
🍃 Door youths aren't even worried about youth upgrades because they're busy getting used to their funky new shape! With those longer horns and ears, there's a lot of doorway mishaps and clothing malfunctions in their futures

🌿 Youth Creation 🌿

🍂 1: Lines > Start by drawing the base image for your keke. Be sure to follow the anatomy examples show here
🍂 2: Design > We've already done this and you're ready to go! If you used color method A in the young phase, you can fill in the new ear space with markings if desired
🍂 3: Upgrades > Keke youth are required to have at least one of the upgrades listed below. They can either keep or remove them once they reach adulthood. Once the approval's over, they have full access to these any time they wish (excepting on younger stages, of course). Note that a youth will always have to have a minimum of one of these and it can't just be removed after the approval process
🍂 4: Description > You're ready to post your Snakekey! Please be sure to locate the form below, fill it out, and put it in the description
🍂 5: Submitting > Submit your finished image to the aging approval folder, which can be found here

💫 1 > Blotches - Youth
It looks like sores, but it's just little dots of the accent color appearing on the face. Scaled keke may try and pick off the affected scales, but this isn't a great idea, please don't pull scales out of things
💫 2 > Chubby - Youth
Maybe one day, this'll convert into a fae morph's figure. Until then, you've got a bit of a belly going on. Note that this shouldn't be a dramatic change - just noticeable. Can be on the torso, naga tail, or both
💫 3 > Color points - Youth
A.k.a. the belly color tingeing that hatchlings have is either resurfacing or appearing for the first time on your Snakekey. Same rules apply: it can be on the face, arms, and tail, going a max of halfway up each. However, it can now be any color

💫 1 > Drowsiness - Youth
Bags under your eyes because no, mom, you weren't up late last night
💫 2 > Growth spurt - Youth
Typically a sign of an oncoming reach morph. Allows a keke to be taller than average for their age. Nothing crazy, though!
💫 3 > Pouch Wool - Trapdoor and Subterfewege only - Youth
Instead of skipping around the cheek pouches, the wool plows right on through, making the backs of the pouches soft and fluffy. Added wool may be any color. Should not exceed about four inches in length without upgrades

Safety-spikes.png26845097-Cahp-Xl5x-Ha-B5-BS4.pngStrange-Silhouette.png

💫 1 > Safety spikes - Trapdoor only - Youth
Some of all the horns become small and/or blunt again as they were in earlier phases. Blanket-lovers rejoice! Does not change colors of the horn itself, but may revert horns to being under the skin, displaying skin colors instead
💫 2 > Short stature - Youth
Your keke doesn't seem to have grown much...a common sign of an oncoming goblin morph. Allows them to be shorter than average for their age. Nothing crazy, though! This "upgrade" has a tendency to make them look a stage or two too young via underdeveloped face, body, etc
💫 3 > Strange silhouette  - Trapdoor only - Youth
Some or all of the ear-mane falls out, making the Door hunkering tactic much less efficient... Does not change colors. May shorten ear-mane-fluff without totally removing it if desired

Woolier.png

💫 1 > Woolier - Trapdoor only - Youth
Return the baby wool to the tip of the tail. It may now be any color

🌿 Adult 🌿Trapdoor-Adult.png

🍃 The horns and ear fur will have finished growing at the adult phase and, wow, they're long! It's a good thing they tend to be shorter morph-wise because they have a lot of verticality to work with
🍃 A Door's signature move is hunkering down with their ears flattened. In this pose, almost the entire keke is covered while their spikes remain exposed, which should ward of things thinking of messing with them!
🍃 Despite their no-nonsense spikes, Doors are usually pretty sweet-tempered
🍃 They're considered above-average scavengers due to their defensive move, but Doors should still think twice about frolicking into the nest of a hungry dinosaur...! Geez...!
🍃 For reasons nobody's quite sure about, Doors can shrink dramatically at the adult phase, ending up with a morph that's about the size of a Wyrm...! This is a very drastic change for the individual, but Door communities are generally very supportive of mini-adults and aid them in adapting to their new lifestyle
