Wisp coats

Marionettes are characterized by their wispy coats, giving them a ghostly, ethereal appearance. Marionettes may be difficult to spot in the dark or in shadowy areas due to their coats. Due to their coats marionette are often seen as the "ghosts" Chowlings, they are whispy and translucent and before marionette where more well known there was folk-lore about these Chows being spirits that passed away and turned into ghosts. The reason these Chowlings have whispy/ misting coats is because they have the ability called "misting", which allows them to turn into a mist-form and transport quickly from one location to the other and even through obstacles. Marionette their whispy coats can be mostly translucent but they can also give off a small glowing aura in the dark, this can be activated by the Chowling at any time.

The wisp coat feels soft to touch at the base and feels like fog when touched at the fur tips, where the fur becomes more translucent you can't really "touch" it as your hand will go through it. Only the base of the body can be touched by bare hands.

Wisp trinkets

Each Marionette has a unique Trinket containing wisps, which glows and may leave a wispy trail as a Marionette moves. Originally, The trinkets given to Marionettes were exclusively in the form of lanterns, but has since expanded to other valuable and sentimental items such as crystals, bells, jewelry, charms, toys, and more. These trinkets are obtained by marionettes through personal choice and life events, there is no special ritual at all on how marionette turn these trinkets into charms that can carry wisps inside, as they are able to convert the trinkets on their own. Sometimes marionette decide to switch to a different trinket of their choice, maybe the old one is broken or they simply don't click to it anymore. When changing their trinket they can move any wisps already inside the old trinket to the new trinket if desired, if wisps are trapped too long in the trinket, they will eventually dim down and die off.

Some marionette are apprentice to elder spirits due to their ability to carry wisps around in their trinkets, this makes it easier for elders to collect the wisps to turn into familiars for young spirits. Marionette are not able to convert wisps into familiars however, at most they can carry the wisps around in their lantern and collect them like that, but nothing more. The color of the glowing wisp trial coming from their trinket can be anything no matter what the original color of the wisp was before it was trapped, once the wisp is released again however it turns back to its original color.
