Sharkcake Design Guidelines

How to Create a Sharkcake!

First we'll need to go over the anatomy. No worries, this'll be quick and easy!

Body:
Humanoid in shape, save for horns/tail.

Eyes:
Eyes can have any pupil shape and be any color, but the scelera must be white!

Ears:
Ears should be long and elfish.

Teeth:
Are always sharp and ready to chomp!

Horns & Fins:
Horns are optional! But they must have a fin on their back and a shark tail.

Materials

Although sharkcakes are mostly made out of, well, cakes and other sweet and savory foods, there are actually a total of five different types of materials that they can be created from! These materials are used as a base, filling, and topping.

Note: Mimicry of different material above the rarity you own is not allowed. i.e. If you have a common slot, the food materials must look like food - not gems, clothing, plants, etc.

【C】Food & Drink
Any prepared food or drink you can eat!

【UC】Organic Nonliving
Like rocks, dirt, gemstones...

【R】Organic Living
Such as plants and mushrooms. NOT animals.

【VR】Manmade
Like toys, circuitry, or ceramics.

【M】Other
Like tentacles, dark matter, and other such things...
Note: You may use any material equal or below the rarity you own. So if you have a rare MYO, you may use a common material if you wish.

Base

This is the material your sharkcake should be based around! If your material is a Keylime Pie, your design should reflect that - like having lime-green skin and hair resembling whipped cream.

You are not locked into a material type after choosing your base material. Your filling and topping can be different types of material as long as you have access to said material!

How to Prepare:
Grab your favorite thing and a mortar in pestle (or hammer if the material is really tough!) and beat until you have a smoother paste or finer powder. lettie_cake_1.png

Then you'll add in a special flour before mixing it all together with water.

Finally allow your new dough to rest for a bit! Come back to it after you've prepared your filling :)

Filling

Fillings affect their horns, back fin, and tail! Horns are optional and have no limits, but tails must be shark-like.

Their horns, back fin and tail should be made of the same material. So if your shark’s base material is a type of icecream, their horn and tail could be a type of cone!

How to Prepare:
Much like the base material, you'll need to pulverize the material and make it into a paste or powder. Add sugar and egg and whip it into a nice paste!

lettie_cake_2.png After your dough has risen, if done right, it should take a shape similar to an egg! Then you'll need to bake it - time and heat depend on the materials used.

Once done and cooled off, you can put your paste in a piping bag and fill the dough - careful not to overfill!

Toppings

Now you can add toppings to your shark! This can anything from sprinkles to a nice squiggly dash of mustard.

Think of toppings as permanent accessories for your shark! A little cookie hat or a few added dashes of confetti on top of their head or tail could bring their design together quite nicely! lettie_cake_3.png

Final Preperation:

This is the easiest to prepare, as most materials don't need to be altered in any way. Just sprinkle what you have ontop of your new egg and you should be good to go!

Time to Hatch!

After all that hardwork, you'll need to leave your egg in a nice warm place to incubate. It'll take a few months, but eventually your new sharkcake will hatch!

On the island, most villages have a dedicated place where they hatch their young. lettie_cake_4.png Some use hotsprings as incubators, while others have created buildings or converted caves.

Once hatched, the sharkcake will still be substantially small - but they'll grow to their full height within just a few years! And learn just as quickly.

More About Sharkcakes

The Isle of Desserts was once completely unpopulated by anyone except a young demigod and their small family of misfit parents. The demigod found solace in cooking and baking, and dreamed of having a friend or two to share their passion with.

With the help of their parents, they created beings that would help them gather ingredients and help with chores. Still feeling lonely, they decided to use their knowledge of cooking and creation to try and create someone they could share their thoughts with.

After much trial and error, they created their first of many creatures. A small shark that could talk! Its intellengence wasn't phenomenal, but the words of encouragement helped the god reiterate and improve on their design.

Eventually, with some help from their mothers, they found the right formula. They deemed them Sharkcakes and continued to create them, populating the island in only a few years and making friends for many more.

It has been eons since that time and the demi-god has long since passed away, but the sharkcakes continue to pay patronage to them every year in loving remembrance of their dearest friend.
