Sheil is the Mountain Kingdom, ruled by Magma, Guardian of the Mountain. Its energy is strong and powerful, like a pulsing heat from the earth's core, fueling an explosive fire that can be expressed either in anger and violence, or in passion and determination. Mastering this energy is like keeping an ancient volcano dormant, meditating on its connection to the earth it heats.
Sheil is a very large Kingdom, with many mountainous regions full of gems and gold. A lot of mining takes place there. Near Lake Dao, there are lots of farms and smaller villages, where lots of crops are produced. It gets colder the more west you go.

Sheil is a very prosperous kingdom, but with a large gap between the rich and poor. Many of the richest in the world come to live up in the mountains, many with servants, dragons, and the finest of riches. The culture is very money-oriented, and patriarchal -- which is why the ruler being female is a very controversial issue among its citizens, as Queen Olivia is constantly under attack of assassins and others trying to overthrow her (there is also the added layer of the god Avan being male, and the king being an extension of the god). Miners search the mountain for riches, usually working for a rich household. Among the gold, diamond and other valuable substances found in the mountains, miners find a precious stone called Kristal, that is used to harbor energy to power things in the Dreamscape. This creates a great power for the rich Sheilans: they run monopolies over these precious materials. Often, Niman thieves steal some of these Kristals for their own benefit.
Much of the Sheil landscape, however, is made of grass and forest. Here, people mainly farm common plants and animals used to sustain the population. Here, the farmers are mainly poor, a lot less wealthy than the noblemen up in the mountains. This power dynamic is toxic for the kingdom, as there are many skirmishes and strikes from the farmers.
As this is very money oriented, even those who run the mines are very cheap about it. They pinch corners and save every last dime they can, which can result in many mines collapsing and trapping miners. However, to keep the general public from knowing they often cover up the tragedy saying that no one died or that they are working on getting the miners out. As the people are constantly lied to, this probably leads to those who know the truth to become outraged, and to start up riots and go on strike whenever something does happen. People often plot large scale rebellions that are often squashed due to the rich placing spies in the mine. (Often the leaders would go missing, are tragically killed in mining accidents, or are assassinated in the dead of night and disposed of quietly.)
-Fashion blossoms here, as people try to wear the nicest of dresses and robes to show off their own wealth. Because of the metals mined here, many very nice and advanced weapons are made here, and armor is a pride of the kingdom.
-Cultural foods: pon-pon is a little bread bun made from whurly, a plant similar to wheat that is often grown in Sheil. It tastes sweet & tangy, and is shaped like a peach.
-Education: Wingtip Academy is located in Shan, Sheil. There are three available programs: the School of Wizardry and Magic, the School Healers and Healthcare, and the School of Warriors and Fighters. Teaches ages 13 to 23, but can teach older. It produces elite warriors, wizards and healers, so it is a giant private school, which you usually have to pay a lot to enter, but it gives out scholarships and really appreciates alumni. It is a boarding school, so you stay there for the entire year except breaks for holidays and festivals.
