Kanan is the Forest Kingdom, ruled by the Guardian of the forest, Shinrin, and the element of Earth. Its energy flows through every vine and root, growing tall, magnificent trees that have seen history unfold before them. These trees create a thick canopy, enveloping the forest in a shroud of darkness. This instills fear in those who don't know the forest, but wisdom can lend someone the tranquility to take a walk through a quiet wood.
Kanan is a large Kingdom located around the middle of the Yume continent, and consists mainly of forests with a temperate climate, increasing in temperature in the south. The large forest is called Shinrin (named after its ruling Spirit), and within it is the Moera Swamp.

SHINRIN FOREST
- A large and deep forest, one that gets darker and harder to travel in the further in one goes. Many interesting creatures live here, and some can be very dangerous. The elusive Guardian of Kanan himself, Shinrin, is said to be found here.
MOERA SWAMP
- A large swampland crawling with dangerous creatures and ridden with Nightmares. Very few dare to enter, for not many have returned. The mud is deep and suffocating, many critters not making their way out once trapped. The smell alone is enough to keep people away, as rotting corpses fester until found by scavengers.
- A small area in the south is inhabited, however, by some small villages. They don't dare to travel too far into the swamp though.
MOTHER TREE
- The Mother Tree, located in the middle of a giant lake, provides all the natural resources granted to the people of Kanan by the Spirit of Nature, Nairah. Since all life is considered precious in Kanan, only the resources provided by the Mother Tree can be used- wood, plants, and other materials for clothing, food, and shelter. Meat is not eaten at all. This lifestyle, however, has grown less popular as time goes by, so now, only some cities and villages still exclusively use Mother Tree's offerings. The Nairah has acknowledged this fact and has since granted general use of the land and its resources to citizens, however some people still believe in only using the gifts of the Mother. This difference in beliefs can cause conflict. Vegetarianism and veganism is still very common.
ANJU
- Anju is the largest city in Kanan, especially since most other cities are more village-like and self-sufficient. Small marketplaces supply residents with fresh produce, and fresh flowers are often picked each morning for display at every home. People are kind and welcoming, and the community is tightly knit, with neighbors checking in with each other about their crops and the weather. People in Kanan are generally very connected to nature, and many fascinating creatures roam the streets as equals.
- While most of the populace is calm and friendly, as this is the capital of Kanan, the government rule here is strongest. Here, special police units also patrol the city, checking for foreigners and keeping the city safe.
- Ruled by Camellia, who is intelligent, peaceful and very well-respected.
- Home to the Fayes, this city is comprised of extravagant structures in trees. Some parts are located on the ground, but most is located in various levels of the tree canopy. The Fayes are an ancient civilization that was there long before the rest of Kanan was colonized, and they are also the origin of healing magic within the world. They are kind and peaceful creatures, staying out of most conflict within the Dreamscape.
KINTRA
- Ruled by tba
- A forest made of large, glowing mushrooms, and populated by Shroomins.
tba
- Kanan values intelligence and hard work above all else. Even though education is so important to them, the largest universities are located in Sheil, so many parents send their children away for semesters there.
- Nature and the forest is incredibly sacred, and vegetarianism/veganism is very common.
- Cooking and cuisine is a great pride, and there are many local delicacies (some are definitely an acquired taste).
- Kanan was originally home to the Fayes, an ancient race that inhabited the forests for centuries before the arrival of humans. They developed much of the plant and healing magic used throughout the world today. Fayes tend to keep to themselves and keep out of conflicts.
- Elves are very common here, as well as Shifters.
- People are very spiritual, and heavily worship Spirits.
