The world of the Dreamscape is a large web of Realms, all filled with different magic and creatures.
There are a few major realms, click on each one to learn more! (Except the Human Realm since it is literally our real world!)
Realms can be created by powerful creatures or beings, and vary in size.
The home Realm of the story, the Dreamscape is a fantasy world that can be travelled to from Reality through sleep. It is home to magic beings and creatures, however also has the danger of Nightmares.
This Dimension is the same world we live in. All of the "realistic" and "scientific" rules apply, with no magic involved... right?
The Shadow Realm was created as a place to seal away Nightmares and Dark Elves when they overtook the Dreamscape. The portal is highly guarded to prevent any Nighmares or other creatures from leaking into the Dreamscape. Travel there through any other means is strictly forbidden.
The Light Dimension was created as a safe haven away from Nightmares, meant to be a utopia without any darkness. Can such a pure world really exist?
There are many smaller Realms, some that are mysterious and undiscovered, filled with magic and unknown creatures.
A Realm full of curious creatures called Whosits who Realm-hop and leave Whatsits throughout other realms. A very small Realm, and very few other beings travel there or even know about it. And that's how the Whosits want it to be.
There are multiple ways to travel between Realms.
The most obvious way to travel between Realms is through portals. Portals are large and look like colorful swirling clouds of space and stars, and the major Realms have portals dedicated to them. The Nightmare Realm's portal, however, had been sealed off and is heavily guarded to prevent any Nightmares or other creatures from entering. Portals are usually created by powerful creatures and beings, and less powerful or skilled magic users can create unstable portals. Unstable portals may not last a long time or be able to host multiple people at once, and can be dangerous to use.
A human from the Reality Realm can travel to the Dreamscape through sleep. This often happens on accident, and almost every human travels to the Dreamscape in their sleep at least once in their lifetime. One would usually write it off as a very vivid dream. Some, however, would travel multiple times, and a few might even train themselves to travel there consciously, much like how someone can teach themselves how to lucid dream. This brings the name Lucids: people who are able to travel to the Dreamscape through dreams purposely. These people are extremely rare, but this is how the human race was able to begin populating the Dreamscape.
Magic stones are another way to travel between Realms. These are especially useful between small Realms that don't have their own portal. They are usually pretty easy to use, but one must learn how to, in contrast to portals where anyone can simply walk into them. Any stone can be enchanted with such magic, however some are naturally this way. They can also be finicky, and if one isn't careful enough, they can accidentally travel to the wrong place. Stone power is related to size, and larger stones can transport multiple people to the same Realm. However, all members must know how to use the stone, because a mistake within one traveler can be dangerous to all.
