Welcome to the Godless Realm

Introduction

The universe is full of dimensions. Warped and fluid, folding over one another in a breathing river of time and depth. Nestled in the dregs of them all lays the Godless Realm. A fractured domain perilously held together by what some would say is pure spite. A place free of gods, hierarchy, and order. Where life and death are one and the same.

The Godless Realm is a holding place for spirits, the spent lives of those who have passed from any realm and cannot gain entry to their chosen god's destinations. They overflow, drifting aimlessly without purpose and for most only a shell of their previous selves while the living cannot perceive them. Ghosts are the main inhabitants of TGR despite almost every resident being oblivious to their existence.

The Spectral Plane

The Spectral Plane

Description

The spectral plane is simply a term used to described the world if a being is able to see the spirits that inhabit it. While ghosts and yōkai are not the same they are both able to see and interact with each other. Yōkai are spirits that have never died but are yet not alive and live on the spectral plane where all other specters exist. Both are able to utilize assets not seen by the living eyes such as Death Cores, invisible yōkai, phasmic energies or forces, et cetera.

Those existing within the spectral plane can interact with those who do not however the reverse is only true for those with the power to see spirits.

Notes

  • Smi and Bakuryu are both Carnates who are able to see spirits.
  • A spirit may gain enough power to kill the living however those who see the spectral plane are at higher risk
  • A Death Core will attempt to reanimate a ghost before it mutates into powerful demons
  • If a being is possessed by a specter their soul may be warped or destroyed
  • With gained favour spirits may help the living. Most are neutral in alignment.

Noteable Locations

Location Molli's Room

Molli is an anti-god which on occassion can warp the fabric of the realm's parameters and with this power it creates a room for himself. This room is typically only used to scare others in nightmarish illusions where time is significantly slowed.

Location The Death Cores

Death Cores are entities, neither alive nor dead, that contain the ability to reanimate spirits. They exist only on the spectral plane. To most who are Carnates they are only visible when the person's body is being reformed as their soul hovers in limbo. A Death Core will take on a form that is most palatable to the viewer at the time.

Within this pocket domain roam greater powered specters, warded off by a protective barrier, hungry for the opportunity of a new life. It is dangerous for those who can view them to stay too long.

Eden Corporations

Eden Corporations

Description

Eden Corporations is a gathering of people who have banded together in multiple locations under the same name. Each branch of Eden has a unqiue set of goals to their work and are connected almost entirely simply by name. Communication between divisions is sparse and it is said there is no leadership guidance within the corporation.

Despite the lack of hierarchy within the Godless Realm it is believed that Eden Corporations is the closest pillar of power outside of actual anti-gods. The collective of scientists, engineers, and "enthusiasts" have been known to create creatures that bend the known laws of the dimension as well as destroy them. Some of their most notable constructions being a mutant known as "Scorpious", an anomaly known as Koji "Shell Shot", and a spirit brought back from the dead known as Husk, though these have ended in "failure".

Eden Corporations take acute interest in Death Cores, Anti-Gods, and being who have been reborn such as Damien, Bakuryu and Smi. They have yet to successfully contained any of these beings.

Notes

  • There are two main locations of EC. One based on creating life and the other destroying
  • The original origins of EC are unknown as are the main branches location
  • Eden Corporations have been documented kidnapping residents
  • Though morally corrupt actions take place via the coporation it is not considered evil. It simply "is"
  • There are many employees who dedicate their research to bettering the world in EC
  • Employees have been known to lose their lives in the line of work

Noteable Locations

Location Secondary Branch

The secondary branch of Eden Corporations is dedicated to creating life. Their main focus for decades has been to recreate the process of bringing the dead back to life. Specifically Secondary Branch attempts to achieve this by duplicating the actions of a Death Core. Weilding a shard of a deceased Death Core, obtained by undisclosed means, Secondary Branch has made over 16 attempts to create life.

To date the most fruitful endeavor has been a being named Husk. Though Husk exists it is still up to debate whether she is truly alive.

Location Laboratory Sixteen

The goals and actions of Laboratory Sixteen are currently undefined to the public and likely will remain as such after the facility unexpectedly erupted in flames several years ago. The department had been relatively small, consisting of no more than a dozen personnel working out of a humble wooden building located on the outskirts of the town.

Several eye witnesses reported seeing a human-like form in the explosion however when community assistance attempted to search for survivors there were only charred remains in the wreckage. Laboratory Sixteen has since been left abandoned, burnt and now overgrown with plant life. It is rumoured a person may hear otherwordly calls in the night near the location.

Main World

Main World

Description

The main world of the Godless Realm is where routine life takes place. Many formally populated areas of the main world are crumbling and unstable, overtaken by nature and desolate. The residents of TGR flourish in small towns and communities rather than cities. Remnants of the past still remain in the world; locomotives, vehicles and some electronics, powered by the natural spectral energy within the fibers of the dimension.

Hundreds of years ago TGR sported large cities, abundant with inhabitants, structured with a single economic system, and what could be called a "modern society". It is undetermined for what reason a collapse ensued but there has since then been no attempt to rebuild.

Notes

  • Both science and the supernatural are commonly accepted forces
  • The world contains daemons, yōkai, mutants, humans, dragons, spirits, hybrids, undead, and anti-gods
  • There is no universal currency. Instead residents often barter for goods
  • Much of the above world is covered in dense vegetation
  • Firearms are rare as the materials are difficult to obtain

Noteable Locations

Location Central City

Central City contains a concentrated amount of higher power and dangerous beings. Once the largest city within the Godless Realm it is reduced to a shell of its former self. In spite of this there is still a large population residing in the crumbling buildings; the heart of the city very much alive and thriving within the gutted outer streets. Skirting the edges of the city limits the secondary branch of Eden Corporation can be found guarded by Husk.

Central City is home to Smi and Damien who are bound to each other and the Death Core tethered in the spectral plane.

Location Subway Tunnels

There are a handful of community opperated subways that still rattle the ghostly tunnels under Central City, commuting locals around the expansive segments and occassionally to the smaller surrounding towns or villages. Many of the passages are long abandoned, left to rot and collapse. It has been said that a mutant stalks the metro ready to abduct anyone straying too far alone.

Scorpious has built her laboratory within the confines of the subway systems finding the area convienent for her work.
