General FAQ

Do you need a chimereon to join?

You do need a chimereon to participate in things like rp, but you don't need to own one to just check out the world or draw things involving the Elysiumverse or anything! All we ask is that you remain respectful of everyone's boundaries and characters.

If I have a cham in Elysium, is it allowed to be an AU version of them? I want them to take part in the world, but I don't want it to be their canonical lore.

Yep, that's totally fine! Elysium is inherently an AU of the "canon" Chimereon universe, and having your cham in Elysium can totally be an extension of that idea. Have fun with it!

In the event you're including your cham as an AU, we recommend adding a new tab to your chams TH profile specifically for Elysium- This allows both us and yourself to keep things organized!

Are chams in Elysium/Samsara allowed to be part-timers? Have multiple jobs?

Yep! There are already multiple chams in Elysium that have this.

Elysium FAQ

What is Elysium actually all about, what's their end goal?

At the end of the day, Lux is on a massive power trip with Elysium and wants to expand his reach further, sinking his teeth into the world in a sense. More than anything he wants to be in complete and utter control, and will do anything in his power to keep that going- Which is why Elysium staff are all either those that can be manipulated or those that don't mind getting their hands dirty. Elysium is a simple and easy front- Weak willed chams give all of themselves to something as addictive as a casino, and the other amenities often lure in chams who wouldn't enter otherwise. Apollo is Lux's right hand man and studies everyone that enters, pinpointing weaknesses and tweaking what goes into the drinks, rates of winning on the machines, etc to see whats most effective; Chams like Artume gather intel for chams like Typhon to put to use, chams like Bia shut up anyone who steps out of line or sees the wrong things (as well as taking part in punishing those who do Lux wrong), and chams like Somnus help keep up the masquerade, whether they know it or not.

More or less everything that happens in Elysium is a step towards that end-goal of power, but he does also genuinely care about the casino itsself and putting on a good show. He won't just hurt chams for no good reason and he doesn't encourage it (Needless violence just puts more critical eyes on the casino which is the Last thing anyone needs), it really depends on what the situation requires.

Do chams that work at Elysium get free room and board, etc? What are the canonical benefits?

No free room and board, but all chams that work at Elysium get a steep and exclusive discount on most things. There are other bonuses like being invited to staff-only parties and buffets, free seats to shows that take place in the theatre, etcetc.

Work uniforms? Outfits? Are chams required to wear clothes?

Clothes are not mandatory. We're kind of running off of general furry anthro rules, here; It's not weird to not wear clothes, but it's totally an option.

Official outfits are a WIP but the basic palettes are either purple and white with gold accents Or sunset/sunrise colours. No black or deep red, but you can probably get away with deep blue. Chams that wear clothes who work at Elysium are expected to dress semi-formally, at least, when on duty.

What are Elysium's hours?

While most casinos in our world stay open for the holidays, Lux is much more of a softie- The casino closes early for holidays, and staff are welcome to join the holiday parties and banquets that take place during the closed hours.

Other than that, Elysium is open 24/7, though things like the restaurant and theatre are not always open.

What's the medical situation like? What if there's a medical emergency?

Security staff have basic medical training for any potential guest accidents (since the most guests are likely to get is like.. a scrape or something), and then Lux has a deal with some shady off-site facility for staff related concerns. It's a "no one dies at Disneyland" deal- Bodies are removed from the premises before either being taken care of or pronounced dead.

Do chams with a high reputation (business owners/partners, etc) have special treatment of any sort? What if Elysium considers them an enemy?

Yes, in general. Lux definitely kisses up to those with higher reputation, hoping to either get something out of it or increase Elysium's popularity via word of mouth. The masquerade takes place above all else, those who expect special treatment will get it no matter how much danger they may really be in. Chams with high social status get higher priority than others, even when they'll be backstabbed seconds later.

For business partners: Donations, info, advertising, other things of high value are expected from business partners, and in turn Lux is willing to give whatever is agreed upon- Which varies on a case-by-case basis, of course, depending on their interests. Business partner chams would immediately count as highest priority VIPs and are welcome to the finer treatments courtesy of Lux (invitations to exclusive events, personal meetings with the big man himself, etcetc), as well as having extra protection (and immediate protection from any of the lab's casino-wide experiments), but they're still not allowed to just do whatever they want- a business partner causing a disturbance or trying to pry where they shouldn't will lead to punishment, same as anyone else. They do not gain access to Elysium's darker workings- It would simply be too much of a liability.

Exceedingly rarely, guests that Lux just generally adores personally have immunity from the dangers of Elysium and are granted VIP status, but their treatment is much more genuine.

Are spies/double-crossers possible? Can someone work at Elysium while being actively against it?

While Elysium is happy to hire spies of its own to keep eyes and ears everywhere, all chams that work at Elysium are heavily monitored and tracked. Anyone considered a liability or threat to the success of the casino is quickly taken care of. So.. You can try, or have it be part of a cham's lore, but it won't end well for them.

Samsara FAQ

What is Samsara's end goal?

Fun and good times. Genuinely, that's it! Nyx and the gang just wanna enjoy themselves.

Just because they're violent and their idea of fun involves a lot of illegal things doesn't mean they're bad guys!

What are Samsara's hours?

Samsara closes at 3am and opens at 12pm.

Samsara doesn't close for holidays, but it's not strict- Most chams can take a day off just fine.

What are the requirements for joining the Deva?

This is a bit of a complex question- It's not really a matter of how long you've known Nyx or worked at Samsara or anything, she just has to trust that you have her/the Deva's back and can get along with them all as a group. Having some sort of skill that chams can put forth for Crime helps too. There's not really a form or application process or anything, it's just kind of the Vibes.

That being said, chams who are part of Samsara can and are encouraged to passively help with Deva stuff even if they're not part of the Deva. The Deva's hideout also doubles as the Samsara breakroom, so nothing is really hidden or cut off from anyone like Elysium's business is.

Work uniforms? Outfits? Are chams required to wear clothes?

Clothes are not mandatory. We're kind of running off of general furry anthro rules, here; It's not weird to not wear clothes, but it's totally an option.

Samsara doesn't have any sort of work uniform standards or outfits, your chams may wear what they want as long as it's not offensive.

Do chams that work at Samsara gain benefits?

Generally yes: Discounted goods and the games are free. Employees are also granted access to Samsara's basement and all of the amenities within, including room and board that staff are free to use if they need to.

As long as you don't backstab Samsara, they'll take good care of you.
