Anatomy

Mouth

Their mouths do not appear that unusual when closed, looking very human-like. They have human-like pinkish lips with wide triangular philtrum. Their lips are very flexible and can easly spread to show all of their teeth without opening their mouths. The teeth are primitive and can be divided into 3 sections but all of them have similar sabre-like shape with one sharp side. All of their teeth are specialized for tearing meat into manageable sized pieces, so that they can be swallowed whole and digested further in the gizzard.
Their tongue has a leaf-like flexible shape, which aids with swallowing food.

Coat and colors

Radrian coats are made of fine, hair-like scales called protofeathers. There are two main types of protofeathers covering their bodies- The majority of the body is covered by a short, velvety type of coat. It is shiny, dense, and smooth to the touch. This dense body coat is hydrophobic to keep them dry and warm in any environment. The tightly packed short protofeathers also repel insects, and protect the skin from abraisons and scratches. The second, longer type of coat is found on their head, neck and tail. It grows much longer than the main coat, and has a fluffy hair-like texture, similar to a rooster's hackle feathers mixed with a donkey's mane. This thick, decorative mane can be flexed and shaken, as a form of expression. It is typically one solid color, and usually comes in a darker or lighter shade of the body pelt color of the radrian. Intricate patterns on their fur help the radrians with camouflage. Their faces and underside are typically a lighter shade than their main coat. Most radrians have stripes, spots, rosettes or marble like patterns. They're often brown, gray, red, beige or black.

Eyes

Radrians have great vision and are able to see a broader spectrum of colors than humans. Their iris is big and takes up almost the full visible area of the eye. The pupil is always round and can change size depending on light and extreme emotions. Eye colors can vary wildly, typically being browns, blacks, and yellows, but extending to even greens and blues. It's not uncommon for them to have central heterochromy. Albinos can have pink or red eyes.

Body

Radrians have elongated silhouette with strong but lithe muscles. Their shoulders are wide and their body tapers down smoothly to a thin waist. Their long pelvises are softly tilted forwards. They don't have breast or nipples but can accumulate body fat on their chests which may give the appearance of a 'breast'. The shoulder blades are loosly attached to their collar bone and have wide arm motion range and extreme flexibility.

Hands, feet and tail

They have 5 digits on each hand and 4 digits on each foot. Their hands have a very similar structure to humans, but with elongated fingers. Their claws are covered in a thin layer of flesh, and appear to be extensions of their finger/toetips. The boney structure inside can be exposed if the claws are used roughly, or are damaged- this would also cause temporary bleeding. Their tail helps them to keep balance and has a thick, triangular base shape. Typically the tail tip will have a long mane, but it can sometimes run the full length of the tail. In resting position tail is slightly curved upwards, and rests without touching the ground. When showing agression or fear tail is rigid and may stand up.

Age

Radrians are socially considered adult at 20 years old but they reach full physical maturity at the age of 25. Durring their earlier stages, they are not much different in size from human children. Puberty and rapid growth starts at 7-9 years old and stops at 25 years old. Their hornsare typically fully grown by the age of 20. Theaverage lifespan of healthy adults it 90-100 years.

Diet

They are almost exclusively carnivorous. Their primitive teeth do not allow them to chew or grind, so they swallow big chunks of meat that are then further ground up by stones kept in the gizzard before making their way to the lower digestive tract. Their diet may also include fish, vegetables, herbs, and fruits. They have a very poor sense of taste but great smell so they are not picky about eating a meal that might be past it's expiration date. Radrians are not naturally good hunters, they typically scavenge meals or hunt weaker animals in groups. They are able to make up for their lack of physical hunting prowess, with tools, weapons, and patience.

Personality and nature

Radrians have very peacful and gentle nature. They prefer cooperation over confrontation, and have developed very tight-knit communities with many individuals of their species. Their prefrontal cortex is not as developed as humans, and this makes them suseptible to lies, as they cannot differentiate them from truth. This also applies to metaphors or sarcasm, which they are not able to process in the same way as humans.

Gender and sexual dimorphism

Radrians have 5 pairs of sex chromosomes but can be loosely split into 'female'and 'male' by the appearance and function of their reproductive organs. There are many more possible combinations of chromosonal sex, and the genital appearance can vary greatly for each individual. Females usually do not have a mane growing on their tail, and males typically do, but this also varies between individuals. This also appliesto theforest radrians' horn mutation- while it is a mostly male trait to have pronged horns, it can be seen on some females as well. Aside from these loose generalizations, there are no distinctive ways to separate radrians by sexual dimorphism. Radrians do not have rolls that are determined by one's gender. All members of society are expected to be treated the same, and have the same responsibilities. An individual's specific genitals are only relevant for reproductive purposes.

Sex and Reproduction

For radrians gender doesn't matter when it comes to sexual activity and they do not limit themselves to one sexualpartnerat a time. They may seek a lifelong romantic partner, but they do not limit sexual activity to this relationship, and do not feel pressured to engage in sex with their romantic partners. Impregnation is very dificult for radrians, and limiting themselves to breeding with only one partner at a time would not be likely to continue the species Radrians are ovoviviparous, with a gestation thatlasts 16 months. A newly born Radrian is refered to as a calf. Calves areborn with full set of teeth, and are able to immediately eat solid foods, which are generally provided by their parents, or other responsible adult radrian caretakers.
