EARLY CHILDHOOD | 11 ABY - 15 ABY
AN-6311 was born to a small communal society living within abandoned mines on a flyover planet in the Outer Rim. These mine-folk were a hardworking and generally self-sustaining society that valued contribution, law, and order above all else. Each member was identified based on what role they served in the community, so like all children, AN was referred to only as Child and was raised by the community at large. He was a restless boy who had not once spoken a single word, and was full of aggressive energy that he released by hitting and biting others almost indiscriminately. This fact clearly garnered concern from the adults in a world where the only source of peace was the strict upholding of a rigid legal code. Crime was not allowed to flourish, let alone exist at all.
Resources were becoming more and more scarce as the years went on, particularly in the form of medical supplies. On one morning in 15 ABY, a potential solution to their problems arrived in the form of a dark transport ship containing a few officers in well-tailored suits accompanied by armored soldiers. They offered to trade some much-needed supplies in exchange for children to induct into the stormtrooper training program. The mine-folk weighed the pros and cons, remembered their little "liability", and offered him (alongside two others) up for the exchange.
The child formerly known as Child was, for the first time, given a unique (if not unorthodox) designation--AN-6311. Every waking moment, the four-year-old was taught the ways of the First Order. His first words -- taken by force from the effectively non-verbal child not long after he was dragged from his home planet -- were "yes, sir." From an unruly mess of a toddler to a generally disciplined soldier-in-progress, AN-6311 seemed like a completely different person entirely. However his desire to be on the attack was still high, and those who supervised the stormtrooper program were very aware of this fact.
CHILDHOOD TO ADOLESCENCE | 15 ABY - 29 ABY
Focused and near-relentless efforts at psychological conditioning quickly began to have their effect on AN, as his superiors told him how much worse off he would have been if he were not taken under their wing. He began to deeply believe that he would have ended up murderous without their guidance, and that any life taken in the name of the First Order certainly wouldn't be the life of an innocent. Every word they said to him sunk far into his mind, warping his identity to fit the mold of what the First Order desired in a soldier. The boy had grown to become a machine.
YOUNG ADULTHOOD | 29 ABY - 34 ABY
AN quietly and efficiently completed his basic training , catching the eye of his superiors with his intimidating presence. He was one of a few stormtroopers selected for specialist training in interrogation and execution. While these were duties that were typically performed by standard stromtroopers on random assignment, it was determined that the existence of specialists would set an example for those who found themselves temporarily filling the role alongside them.
It only took a year for AN to officially finish this additional training at age 18. He worked at first to enforce the legal code on the Finalizer, primarily doling out minor punishments for minor crimes. The only executions he was directly involved in were performed on troopers who had completely snapped beyond repair under the rigors of the training program. Most of these deaths were covered up as training accidents.
Longing to take out a real traitor, AN was ecstatic to find out that he was placed on an away mission to kill a rogue lieutenant who had been selling information and modified weapons to the resistance. During this mission, it was revealed that XR-8548, a fellow trooper in his strike team was aiding the lieutenant. AN picked up on XR's unorthodox behavior, determined his part in the treason, and killed XR before completing the mission with the remainder of the team. His actions in this mission regarding XR were a large factor in earning him his promotion to corporal just a few months later.
The more missions AN was sent on, the more notoriety he accrued. He was silent, tactical, and brutal, eventually becoming known as "Angel" among fellow troopers because he is all too often the last thing a traitor sees before they die. Initially opposed to the nickname, Angel soon grew used to it, though his preferred form of address still remained his cumbersome serial number.
STARTING TO UNRAVEL | 34 ABY ONWARD
Angel was stationed on the Finalizer during Holdo's hyperspace attack. While the ship he was on was unharmed, the sudden destruction of Starkiller and The Supremacy (as well as the death of Snoke) caused him to begin doubting the permanence of the First Order. This caused him a great deal of stress, which built up over the course of weeks before he broke down in front of Ashwill. Soon afterwards, after once again losing control during an interrogation, Angel turned himself in for reconditioning, which seemed to do very little to abate his fears.
A few years later, after logistics colonel Fedony Procyon begins to notice that the First Order is at the point of no return, Angel is offered a position as her bodyguard and leaves the order alongside her and two other troopers. The sudden shift in circumstances was hard on Angel, but over time he found his footing. He continues to act as Fedony's enforcer, slowly learning how to be his own person in the process.
