Benevolence
Tied to both the world of the living and the world of the dead, Benevolence is stuck in the mortal plane as an immortal ghost who can interact with others as she pleases. She's a vigilante who wants to see the world flourish as crime dies out.
After she drowned, she decided to spend her time as a ghost to destroy anything she saw as evil, but after she was awarded the title of Malevolence she changed her position on the use of violence to defeat evil and looked into the idea of empathy and understanding instead.
Her style consists of approaching the people she wishes to change from the idea of wanting to help them, not harm them or stop them. Finding common ground and building on top of that would be a next step, but regularly this wouldn't work on those with a strong conviction of their work and some people are beyond her reach even with her attempts to understand her clients.
It's still a work in progress, but she feels confident that slowly she's getting closer and closer to her goal.

Benevolence is a small and dainty looking demon, standing 156cm or 5'1 tall and weighing 47kg or 103lbs. She has dark grey skin covered in bright blue freckles around her face, neck, shoulders, and back. As her measurements imply, she's got a very low amount of both fat and muscle, only showing a slight amount of arm muscle. Both her shoulders and hips are thin, her waist only slightly thinner than both. She has a small chest and a lower A-cup, and her arms and legs are fairly uniformly thin as well. On her forehead, wrists, and ankles she has black tattoos of respectively two, three, and four lines wrapping around the limb. Some days, her form appears more transparent than others where she's fully opaque. She feels noticeably cold to the touch.
Her face is small and kind, displaying large and attentive blue eyes, a fine upturned nose, and dark lips always curled up into a convincing smile. Her cheeks are more fatty and she has a thin chin. The blue freckles from the rest of her body continue over her cheeks and nose. Two small dark blue horns sprout from the top of her head.
Her hair is a soft blue in colour, combed back at the top of her head and forming two bangs by the side of her head. It's combed back over the top of her head. It's worn loose at mid back length and has this very flowy, wet texture to it, though it feels dry to the touch.
Her only visible piece of clothing includes a dark blue dress ending near the upper knee. It's a wide dress, allowing for a lot of movement in the way she floats around. The dress has a thick strip reaching around the upper waist to keep it in place, and it has a gradient to become darker closer to the legs.
Benevolence without a doubt has the heart of a vigilante with the desire to change the world for the better and save as many people from both others and themselves. At first glance she seems like this idealism driven woman who won't budge for anything but her own point, but she truly puts effort into seeing all points of view and possibly adjusting her own as she sees fit. She believes that everyone is capable of good and even for those who can't be saved, no one should be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment, and she stands strong by these principles.
She is a polite and pragmatic woman who has the charisma to steer any conversation she has in the direction of her own goals and needs. She uses years of experience to find people's desires and motives and uses these in a strategy to find a common ground to approach the other based on, with the goal to later push more and more towards a solution for the problem at hand. She approaches others from the angle that people do things when they believe they are the best course of action and a lot of her work includes finding alternatives as well as presenting other ways to look at certain issues in the hopes of convincing her targets to look at things differently.

- For a ghastly being, she has no magical skills at all to rely upon, which is very unusual for a vigilante of her notoriety
- Her view on the world can't save everyone, and makes it very hard to deal with people who are cruel and shallow; she relies on reasoning
- Her past as a violent vigilante has decreased people's trust in her, which can make cooperation hard
As an immortal ghost, Benevolence has only partial capabilities to interact with the world. Some days she can interact with the world and touch things as if she were alive, others she phases through most things she touches, and even others she's not even visible to anyone. There are days where she's invisible and untouchable and she remembers everything, but some days she doesn't even remember vanishing. She's not yet sure when and why this happens even after all these years of having lived this way.
She has a tendency to refer to the people she helps as clients. It's not sure where she picked up that habit, since she definitely wasn't of an age to be into business already when she died.
Some claim that she is a god, but she lacks the proper powers to be one. Her work helping out mortals comes purely from her own spirit and will. A select amount of people still chooses to see her as a god anyway.
She didn't really have a particular reason to start out her vigilante work at first, except for "what else am I gonna do, sulk about having died until everyone else is gone too?". It was only when she saw the changes her small actions could bring to the world that she actively wanted this to be her life's work.
Although she died through drowning, she's not averse to bodies of water. In fact, she even enjoys the seaside and hangs around it whenever she gets the chance. She has no idea that this same ocean holds the god that decided her fate so many years ago.
Her body didn't look the way it currently does at all before she died. Her skin took on a demon soul's standard grey colour, and her pale hair and dress turned blue like the magic that was used to immortalise her. Over years, the effects only got more visible.
Because of the fact that she has a corporeal form, she can still eat and drink and enjoy both of those, but her body won't digest anything. Whenever she phases, anything that isn't part of her ghostly body doesn't join in the phasing and ends up phasing through her body instead.
Not much is known about Benevolence's backstory, only that she was the victim of a drowning at the age of 17 and that unfortunate circumstances led to her ghost being tied to the mortal world without losing its ability to interact with said world. Unbeknownst to the masses, her strange condition was the result of the ocean god Vohgan extending her gift of immortality to the girl like she would to all drowning victims, but the gift was extended seconds too late, passing on the gift to her soul instead.
After her realisation, a few years of wondering what to do next, and an experience that would change her entire future, Benevolence became somewhat of a vigilante, standing up for people who couldn't stand up for themselves and going after people who caused suffering in the world. She gained insight into how she could assist people through years of offering strangers help, and soon became a bit of a legend not many believed to be real. The people she helped would refer to her as Benevolence, but those she did harm gave her the name Malevolence. The idea of Malevolence spread around, and eventually reached Benevolence herself.
At that point, she had mostly been going after evil and making sure that they'd get their rightful penalty for their crimes, often using her ghastly form to maim and kill evil, but finding that people looked upon her with fear made her ponder for a longer time on what that meant for her. What kind of saviour was feared by a larger amount of people, enough to ascribe the concept of malevolence to her? What kind helpful spirit maimed?
She took a hiatus spent around philosophers, moralists, and justiciars to find a view of the world that didn't just consist of people telling her which evil to go get, and found herself agreeing more and more with the idea that evil isn't inherent and everyone was capable of good and bad, no matter their past. Handing over petty thieves and misguided bandits to a justice system that would torture or kill them no longer seemed like something a compassionate person would do, no matter the material and personal damages they had caused. Benevolence promised herself that in her future work she would look for a solution instead of serving revenge for those affected by the crime.
Her journey was long and often questionable, requiring her to thread into the blurred territory between a person who could still be saved and one who was too far out of her reach more than she could recount. But eventually she found the right balance, taking it upon her to not just bring justice to the world's evil, but to reform it into something society could actually do something with.
Nowadays her quest for a better world continues, and she doesn't have any plans to stop with her work anytime soon.
