Born with an eldritch disease, Esward grew isolated from most. A child mistaken for a curse or contagious illness.
Now older, he's seemingly a silent, unremarkable man at first. Esward does not stay in a single town for long enough to be known.
He often comes off as cold and uncaring with his blank expression and monotonous speech, despite his actions coming from true empathy and kindness from within him.
Es has found kinship in the supernatural, and it became his life's work to help misunderstood wraiths and spirits be freed from their eternal suffering.
He lives off his helpful nature, sometimes collecting rewards for defeating monsters, catching criminals or finding missing people. Esward is very likely to just go out of his way to help out a stranger, and is extremely accepting on taking hits and damage if it means a mortal will be safer. He's strongly guided by the fact that his own life returns, others' do not.
Eye of Oblivion
The red eye is the core of Esward's strange existence. It is seemingly a source of unending and unexplainable lifeforce. It keeps Esward alive no matter what. He is unable to die or even just become fully unconscious.
What else his flesh can do is only limited to his own understanding of it. He has studied biology in depth as well as put himself through countless experiments to further understand a little better what he is and how he functions.
Esward gets sickly, disassociates often and in some occasions will lose grasp of his human form unvoluntarily. Commonly he feels nausea, intense headaches, hypotension and/or fevers. Intensified when making much use of his powers.
● Has a resting bitch face. Rarely emotes differently.
● Has the attention span of a peanut unless hyperfocused. Despises waiting. likely adhd.
● Generally dislikes food, he doesn't eat, aside from a few dishes Edwin cooks for him.
● Deep down is a hopeless romantic and craves just a normal life with someone.
● Is a big nerd about biology, anatomy and supernatural beings. Will ramble endlessly about random science facts when comfortable and talkative.
● Refurbishes and patches up his coat fairly often.
● Cannot drink in public. His body gets all wiggly and abstract when drunk.
● Does not understand sarcasm or social cues most of the time.
● Sleeps a lot.
● Loves cats. He steals Jess' cat, Wiskr, very often.
● Esward's first death was falling from a great height when play-pretending to be sky pirates with Jess and Luki at age 10. He recovered suspiciously well.

Lover
A charming and easygoing sailor whom Es easily fell for. Both hopeless romantics, and both with their own secrets; ends up Edwin is a vampire, hiding among humans.
His chill way to life balances out Esward's more worried and paranoic side.

Friend
Friends from childhood, Es kept contact with her through letters and occasional meetings.
Esward is always up to helping Lukira when she needs him, and so does her. The dragoness always listens to his endless ramblings despite not understanding a single word.
Es is one of the few who know his way with words when dealing with Lukira.

Rivals
Raven and Es are often caught in common goals, but with both having different approaches and views to dealing with the supernatural, they clash often. It doesn't help that both are extremely stubborn and want things to go their way.

Friends
Friends who get in trouble together constantly. Jess makes Es bring out his most chaotic ideas and the both of them roll with it.
