Kanti loves how confusing things can be sometimes. For example, his mentor, Palmer, is hundreds of years old and can do magic. Actual, real life magic spells! How cool is that? Kanti's learning a few of them, even. In addition, Palmer is going to live forever until he does a thousand good deeds. He's already gotten a good start - he's about four hundred in. One of those good deeds was saving Kanti's life.

There had been an earthquake - a real, huge, scary earthquake - and Kanti had been terrified. Rocks falling left and right, the earth splitting beneath his feet - he hadn't know what to do. Then Palmer had showed up and taken him to safety until the quake had finally stopped. He'd been really grateful, and when he heard that Palmer was an adventurer he kind of wanted to tag along. So he did.

Palmer tried to sneak off on his own multiple times, but Kanti stuck with him, and finally Palmer agreed - Kanti could come and help him with his good deeds.

So these days Kanti enjoys the wandering, he enjoys learning magic spells and confronting danger head-on, and he really enjoys how crazy things can get. After all, they still have six hundred good deeds left to do - anything could happen!
