Seranet is a College affiliate currently working in research together with Chiara, Ayla, and Neridan to cure a highly virulent parasitic outbreak in his region. Over many years he finished his studies as a botanist, a chemist, and a doctor, and while he has experience working and researching all three fields, his heart lies at the research of disease, the development of medicine, and working with patients, which combines all of his fields of expertise at once.
Several years ago, his research went broad and was more based on plant-based medicine, but when coming into contact with patients infected with a newly emerged deadly parasitic worm, he caught the parasite himself and had to completely refocus his research topic to find a way he could survive.
With the idea of a rapidly approaching death engraved into his mind, he looked at previous research for a lead and picked up hundred year old research after reading the journal of a group of researchers who dealt with the same issue. Their method sounded like his only remaining option, but it would require him to stabilise the failed medicine. He’d lie his way through achieving the help he’d need to get it to work, as once successful the medicine would have an interesting secondary working he’d rather keep to himself.
After a journey abroad where he found a material that could just be the key to getting the medicine to work, he’s back to working on it harder than ever, fearful that once he gets it to work it may not cure him of his death sentence.

Standing 161cm or 5'3 tall and weighing 59kg or 130lbs, Seranet is a relatively small and chubby man, a little taller than average to a pureblooded Northerner. He possesses the typical features of a pureblood: vibrant red skin on the darker side, brown hair with a gradient to black near the tips, and brown eyes combined with a small stature. He's a bit on the chubbier side, especially visible around the belly, hips, and legs, but in more recent times he has lost some of his weight and he's slowly reducing back to an average amount of fat. He lacks in muscle, and the past years haven't helped this fact. On his right lower arm, he wears bandages to cover up an infection.
His chin's oval in shape and he has rather pudgy round cheeks. His eyes are rather large and curious, though he has no issue reducing them to a more neutral look. He has a long medium sized nose that ends with a thicker tip and nostrils. His ears are partially covered with said bangs, and they are pointed and at an average length. Due to his subpar near eyesight, he uses glasses to see things close to him, but they aren't a necessity and he just as often doesn't wear them.
His hair's thick, at shoulder length, and has a wavy and fluffy texture that can hardly be tamed by any brush. He's got small bangs over his forehead and longer ones over his ears. It has the typical Damonic pureblood colour, starting off as brown at the base and gradually turning black towards the tips. This gradient is shorter on bangs and longer on long hair.
Most of his outfits choose for a combination of form and function, focusing on both keeping him decently warm and looking up to his standards. He likes wearing turtlenecks, scarves, mid-shin boots, and thick overcoats. In the past it wasn't so rare to see him with short sleeves and a bared neck, but in the past years he kept especially his arms covered and had a tendency to keep his neck covered as well to avoid getting ill.
Seranet owns a fairly functional and cosy wardrobe. In the past he wore more open clothes, but lately he’s been gravitating more towards closed off clothing. He wears his simple turtleneck alone less often and prefers to wear a coat or two above it. On warmer days, it’s not uncommon to see him wear more open clothing with a shirt akin to his sleepwear.

Despite his affiliation with the College, he has next to no loyalty. It offers him a place to stay, funding, and a large collection of references and literature, but the second these are no longer sufficient he wouldn’t mind moving on. It’s unlikely that he will find these conditions met anywhere else, though. There’s a reason the College stands strong.
During his medical studies, Seranet studied under a surgeon who had found that certain hygienic measures would help patients survive better and reduce risk for surgeons, including the wearing of gloves, washing of surgical clothing, covering the mouth, and use of a basic antiseptic fluid. He stands by these principles and if a colleague decides not to follow them, nags them until they do take the measures he suggested. Despite all his safety precautions, he still ended up being the one to get ill.
He's been trying to grasp the basics of magic for over ten years now, without any success. Lacking skill in magic in the College is looked down upon, so he’d like to be worth more in their eyes after regular rejection. He is unwilling to accept that magic is just not in his blood, but even with days of endless meditation, preparation, and aided infusion carried out by real mages he has yet to produce even a single magical spark. He has hopes for the future and keeps on trying to unlock his potential.
He's not only about reading scientific books. He also has a huge interest in fiction, especially mythology and speculative fiction where the setting is in the future. He likes to read them to expand on his own ideas and push his limits when thinking of solutions and innovations in his research.
