Once a human, Claude was led into the realm of fairies by a fae who had fallen in love with his music. The adoring validation of such a powerful creature made Claude careless, and before he even noticed it he had entered the Forest of Endless Night. The realm of fairies is never fair to those not of their own kind, and Claude would quickly come to discover he was nothing more than property to the fae who had guided him in, made to play music for them and to be pretty to look at.

There he would meet the prince of the forest, who would become great comfort for the homesick and bored Claude. However, many more fairies would become increasingly more aware of a human wandering their home forest, and not all of them would be as kind as Jonathan was: the heart of a human is a precious delicacy, and even his patron fae - capricious and unreliable as they were - couldn’t always keep an eye out for him.

In the end the prince would help him out of the kindness of his heart, but would present him with two options: to return back to the realm of human but to leave his gift of music behind, or to cast off his human skin and become part of the fairy realm, with the rules of humans no longer binding him and his heart no longer sought after. For Claude, whose feelings towards the prince had grown beyond simple friendship, the choice was an easy one, and his body changed to better suit the world he now was part of.

He now lives together with Jonathan in a large, hollow tree where Claude conducts most of his spell practice and studies. Though not the one to torment humans due to his own past experience as one, he’s fond of causing various kinds of mischief to them.

• He’s not a fairy like Jonathan is, and as such he doesn’t have the access to the magic only fairies can use. Though he studies hard and has learned a lot, his skills especially in illusion and transformation related abilities are no match for fairies.
  
  
• He was able to say goodbyes to his family, though for them several years had passed since their son’s disappearance.
  
  
• Though his personality has stayed more or less the same, his mind has slowly adjusted to the different ways of the fairy realm and gone further away from the ideals and morals of humans.
  
  
• Claude is more daring and confident with humans than Jonathan is, largely due to his human background. He loves using Jonathan’s magic to disguise himself as a human even during daytime, usually ending up either tricking or helping them. He also likes to take the form of an animal to approach humans.
  
  
• It took him a while to get adjusted to his new body, but as the realm always gives humans a form they would be comfortable with, Claude is naturally pretty happy with his appearance. His lower body is covered in fur so he doesn’t really need to wear pants, and instead he tends to settle with various clothing around his waist.
  
  
• He and Jonathan become pretty known in the town they tend to target the most, and would eventually become figures the humans would bring offerings to and even pray for. Since Claude is a sucker for attention and praise, if people pray for him or leave him offerings he will not play any mean tricks on them.
  
  
• Claude loves leading humans into the woods by making them follow the melody of his flute. If they’re able to find him before he gets bored, Claude will reward them rather generously.
