Rosemary Taylor

Leon Lee and Scarlet Williams were a pair that were drop dead in love. They met when Scarlet was in Kentucky for a horse competition and Leon was off supporting his cousin the Mannings in their many horse endeavors. It was love at first sight for the pair, so much so that Leon had no problem with agreeing to move all the way down to Texas, to marrying Scarlet as quickly as they both wanted. For the two of them, they wanted to build a life and a family together. In October, they had their first and only child: the lovely Rosemary. Rosemary was raised within a home that was full of love and she was cherished, because she was seen as something of a miracle baby. The Lees, unfortunately, had something of a course, which made it hard to conceive children, so Rosemary got the brunt of her parents love. This meant that anything she wanted to do, she was indulged. When she wanted to try out art, they got her classes and sighed only a little when she quit after a week. When she had a brief idea of being a break out journalist, they got her classes that she only managed for one day. Two things she stuck with, though, were singing and dancing. Rosemary loved to perform and her parents encouraged her every step of the way. Anyone who would listen got to hear about how Rosemary was going to be on television...no, more than that, she was going to be on the stage. The stage was where she really belonged. It really was the best medium; you had to put your all into it and you couldn't just do a retake if things went sour. Her parents helped her get every singing and dancing class they could find in the hopes of finding something later in life.

"Something later in life" turned out to be one Clayton James Taylor and it was in her senior year of high school. At a bonfire one night, she met a man who made everything about her light up. He was, to her, perfect. Handsome and charming and had a beautiful voice to boot. She was positive that she had found something exactly like her parents had and she had no qualms with getting to know him intimately that very night. And in the morning? In the morning he asked her to marry him and she said yes...but they had to wait until she graduated proper. It was a whirlwind of a romance, filled with dates and laughter and James being her number one fan. She fit right in with his big family and while her parents were a bit wary of him, they liked James well enough. The two were married later in the week of her graduation in a beautiful outdoor wedding. They were happy and loving and did everything they could together. They were content for about two years when the doctor said she was pregnant. It wasn't something they were expecting, but for them, it wasn't a bad thing. They weren't exactly sure they wanted to be parents, but they weren't about to give up the gift they had been given. They started preparing – James building or touching up what furniture they needed, Rosemary going through all the clothes they would need. They had a nursery and names all picked out; the baby, Rosemary knew, was going to be a boy and his name would be James Junior, or JJ for short. Of course, that was when the Lee curse struck again: Rosemary had a miscarriage. It wasn't anything obvious or tragic that brought it on, it was just..."one of those things", the doctor had tried to say. She had done everything right, it just...happened. Despite not having originally wanted children, James and Rosemary were devastated. They tried to get back to their lives, but things seemed...bleak and like they had a ghost hanging over them.

It was about this time that Rosemary focused again on her dream. She had put being on stage in the back seat waiting for a child but now that that wasn't going to happen, she was more than willing to dive back in. And dive she did. She was tired of getting no name parts in Texas, what she really needed to do was go to New York City, the home of Broadway. When she told James, if he had any doubts, he didn't express them. Against every family members' judgment, the two packed up their things to make the long trip all the way to New York.

The rest of Rosemary's story is explored in the To the Moon, Through the Stars story, Star of the Morning.
