The Mad Inventor
Basics
About
While slightly disassociated with societal norms, Cardina Lu is a master inventor for the people of Earth. In the time before the fall of the angels, she was far more advanced technologically thanks to her training under Remira Thorn. (One such invention being her lab helper--her deceased father's hand that is now stuffed with machinery and functioning emotionally as his replacement.) Due to her part in initiating war with the false angellic rulers of Earth, Cardina landed herself a job in Hell under Loki researching and developing weaponry, technology, and medical proceedures during the 9 years that humanity and divinity fought off the angel invaders. Her time in Hell caused Cardina to suffer the effects of demonic mutation. Her teeth sharpened, her fingers began to shift to a red hue, and her fingernails began growing at a rapid rate, resembling claws. Her new inhuman features annoy her, but Cardina is learning to live with them after moving to a surface facility to continue her research.
Summary
Season One
Cardina Lu was not a good or popular person. She grew up without friends, her father had killed himself, her sister left home with his passing, and her mother tuned out. Despite that fact, Cardina survived and graduated high school top of her class. After high school, she began looking into ways to bring her father back.
She found Remira Thorn, who taught her all she needed to know. With Remira’s help, Cardina brought her dead father back to life by filling his corpse with machinery. The act got her marked by a demon for a ritual she was to be a sacrifice in at the hands of her sister. When trying to escape the ritual, which enhanced her greed, Cardina got in a fight with Remira, kidnapped people and experimented on them, turned her base into a giant trap house, and turned her mechanical father into a death monster--also bearing the curse.
Cardina managed to kill one member of her sister’s party, but unluckily for her it was the one person who could come back from the dead apparently. Cardina got shoved into stasis, and stayed there for almost an entire year--only removed twice and once was to ritualistically remove the mark from her and free her from the curse--before she found herself ejected back into the world.
Season Two
She was returned to the world with her father’s disembodied hand. After some quick searching she found she had been declared dead, and thus lost all of her bases and hideouts. Cardina moved in with her sister since she seemed to not want her dead.Six years later, Cardina was wrapped up in a death game that she wasn’t even meant to be in. She worked as the team’s medic and used her inventions to disable enemies. Most fights, while bloody for everyone else, went well for Cardina herself. One fight in particular didn’t go well for Cardina though. She eliminated a man who could regenerate endlessly from any level of death or destruction. With the temporary removal of the man, Cardina herself was removed by the curse upon him. She along with two of the others on her team had been shoved into their own person Hells. Cardina was trapped in a room that was entering stasis. There she spotted all her other teammates frozen, including the one person who had been kind to her on her team, Damien Finch. After attempting to leave and failing, Cardina sat down next to the frozen facsimile of Damien, held his hand and reassured him that everything would be okay. It would end eventually. As she settled in for the freeze, she was shown what to say by writing on the wall. Realizing she needed to say the words, Cardina admitted to her faults and her need for the other’s help. Unfortunately for her, by releasing the curse on herself and her companions, the cursed man died. With his death, he placed the memory of his attempted escape from the ranks he was a part of and his own sister’s death. The memory haunted Cardina and forced her to learn some perspective.
Cardina was reluctant to learn the lesson and tried to have her teammate, Aiden, wipe the memory from her head. Regardless, her new consideration of other’s feelings to some degree remained. She made a deal with Aiden that she would help him save his brother as long as it didn’t kill her.
Cardina recruited Remira to help her find a way out of the death game they were trapped in. Remira obliged. Remira traced the game back to Loki, and led them to his location. In the process of helping them change the rules of the game to no longer be to the death, Remira was petrified. With saving her life from the game, Remira gave Cardina an instrument. A cage to trap a god. Anything could be contained within it, and it would only work for her. Cardina struggled with why Remira would give her such a thing, and vowed to find a way to talk to them again.
In the end, Cardina got to use the God Cage. She and her companions trapped Dionysus, the mastermind behind the game. The game was ended, and her companions were saved. Unfortunately, it triggered his true plot. Her group was instrumental in triggering a war with the Angels.
The Angels had apparently come to Earth at some point after the gods had already been ruling it. The Angels harvested human souls instead of letting them return to the natural cycle of the Earth, and caused a conflict that drove all gods to destruction or damnation where they were labeled as demons. At the catalyst for this 9 year war that would ensue and decimate life as was known before, Cardina and her companions were offered a choice, to stay on the surface and to fight and possibly die or to work under a god and be ensured protection. Cardina chose to work under Loki after a long conversation about benefits and dental plans as a researcher for the gods. She and Loki had a similar interest in undoing the petrification of someone close to them.
Post Season Two
Her research went well with the advanced and magically imbued technology in Hell. Cardina was finally able to work with technologies on par with her own knowledge. Everything was going well, until she noticed some changes to her physical form. Her teeth had become sharp as daggers, and her fingers began to turn red and develop claws. Other humans who had sheltered from the war in Hell experienced similar changes. The demonic mutation she underwent was due to the environment causing the rapid evolution of her form. Once she discovered this, she rushed to move out of Hell.Above the surface, she made progress on her research and managed to free Remira from their petrification. While they still were made of wood, they were able to move and talk. Cardina and Remira are now working together on ways to continue to undo the effects of the curse and experiment with ways to attempt to undo the demonic mutation.

Dad Hand was once part of a larger construct shoved within the flesh of Cardina's deceased father. While the majority of the mechanical parental replacement is gone, Cardina clings to the hand that was leftover. He possesses no intellect or emotions, only the ability to communicate in ASL finger-spelling on Cardina's command. He's been a lifesaver for her, and she still clings to him greedily.
Damien is the first friend Cardina's ever really had. While she wouldn't die for him--since she's not that kind of person, seeing him hurt shakes her heavily. Despite not knowing how, she does try to offer some mild comfort to him whenever he does get badly hurt--if not to just assure herself that he'll be alright. While they studied different fields during their time in Hell, they stayed in contact and talked often. She may or may not have cameras in his house to check in on him and assure herself that he's not died yet.
Remira taught Cardina everything when she was just a teenager out of high school. They allowed Cardina to advance her level of technology above the modern standard. While they had a falling out, Remira still risked their life for Cardina--even becoming petrified in a wooden form. While studying in Hell, one of her tasks was undoing the petrification. She managed to undo some aspects of the petrification, and after they were able to communicate again, the two of them came to an agreement to work together and co-operate again.

Cardina doesn't find herself talking to Irene often--if ever to be honest. Cardina still hasn't forgiven her for their mother's death or for abandoning her and their mother after their father's death. While their mother's deaths had been both of their faults, Cardina still refuses to acknowledge her part in it. Cardina is also weary of her wife's seeming need for honor and discomfort/hatred of the gods. It seems non-beneficial to Cardina's safety to be around the pair of them. After being employed by Loki, Cardina has had no reason to interact with her sister and tries to give her and her wife a wide berth.

Aiden and Cardina have never really gotten along. The only time they saw eye-to-eye was when Cardina sympathized with his need to rescue his brother and did her best to help him. They don't talk almost ever anymore, but, on some occasions, Cardina is still haunted by another person's memories swimming in her head and will approach him to make her forget again.
