- diagnosed with ocd (Obsessive compulsive disorder), he often finds himself obsessing over potential messes and contamination, hence why he typically wears masks over his face, and makes the effort to make his murders as clean as possible. he is also extremely precise in the timing of said murders, as well as how they are executed.
- he does not understand the concept of religion; he states that one’s religion almost seems like a method to make others into scapegoats, and believes that only cowards believe that there is any deity that will magically absolve them of any potential sin.
- he is prone to stalking any men he takes an interest in, though he will not bring harm to them. his reasoning behind his decision is that he does not want to disrupt genocider syo in her process of murdering attractive men.
- after the death of his first boyfriend at the hands of genocider syo, he no longer reacts positively to flirting from others; he will typically act as though he didn't hear them, and/or silently begin to blush (and pout)
yūrei, upon first entering hope’s peak academy, was a relatively normal, albeit uninspired, writer. often stricken with writer’s block, he found himself aimlessly searching for inspiration. eventually, he found a boyfriend, who acted as a source of inspiration for his writing for some time. however, after nearly 4 months together, the two forcibly split, when his boyfriend was suddenly murdered by genocider syo. when he watched the news and saw that his boyfriend had become a victim of a series of murders, he had likely never felt nearly as inspired as he had in that moment! from then on, he grew to be obsessed with genocider syo, keeping track of each and every one of their murders, and occasionally (which later grew to be often) replicated them, killing off any men, or “fodder,” that he believed would not meet syo’s standards to kill.
within the killing game, he acted as an antagonist to masao. they had conflicting ideals, with masao firmly believing that is wrong to kill without reason. additionally, throughout the game, he could very often be seen watching and following masao, inexplicably. his fate resulted in suicide, as he made the decision to murder himself, when he had not filled his killing quota for the week.
idol
syo murdered his first boyfriend, resulting in him becoming obsessed with the murderer, striving to be more and more like them as time continued. he was somewhat of a protegé for syo, despite the two never crossing paths.
rivals
throughout the killing game, the two acted as rivals, due to their contrasting opinions regarding death and murder. however, at the same time, yūrei found masao quite attractive, therefore stalking him throughout their free time.
