Casper is a ghost hunter, a freelancer who explores abandoned or haunted urban areas in search of paranormal activity. Ey have a snarky, quick-witted personality and talk too fast for anyone to ever properly pay attention to em. Casper can most often be found in eir flat analyzing blurry photos and researching abandoned blogs, or in the local cemetery with an EMF reader, a crucifix, and a Ouija board.

Casper grew up lonely, with eir neglectful mom placing Casper in a boarding school for most of the year. During breaks, Casper partially lived with and visited eir half-sibling Sam's household, where ey were ignored or brushed off as being a hyperactive young child with too much on eir mind. Combined with being a loner nerd in school who was always picked on for being different, Casper grew up to be alone with no friends to bring into adulthood.

During a late night where Casper was supposedly clearing an abandoned building of any residual spirits, Casper encounters a rather talkative ghost, Jack, an equally lonely soul with a much more playful spirit than Casper. Jack ends up becoming bound to Casper, becoming just one of many nuisances in eir life, but one ey secretly feel more comfortable with around.
