about

Sam is a committed student working two retail jobs to support herself while earning her master’s degree in business. Although she comes off as easygoing and mellow at first, Sam has a short temper and is easily pushed over the line to snap at people. The fear of someday losing a friend to this behavior has made them apprehensive to forming relationships with others, acknowledging they would never want to get close to Sam after learning about their personality flaws.

Sam’s side hustle is helping her friend Oliver out with his budding music career, assisting in production and promoting him. Although she is shy about it, Sam is a big fan of the artistic process involved in making music, and has featured uncredited as backing vocals on a few of his songs and as the production in many more.

Surprisingly, the two of them work very well together, with Sam’s more practical and straightforward thinking helping to channel Oliver’s boundless energy, with the younger student encouraging Sam to see that there’s more to life than just careers and schoolwork.

story

Sam grew up an only child with a single father for most of her life until her view on her family was shattered upon learning her barely estranged mother had a child with a man who wasn’t her father. After this revelation, Sam became very closed off and hostile to everyone who wasn’t her dad. Even when her younger half-sibling, Casper, would come to visit at the request of her dad, Sam still kept em at an arms length, not keen on befriending the person who had split her home life up.

Sam was too busy with high school and her boyfriend Levi to pay much attention to her half-sibling and friends. Although Levi and Sam were picturesque high school sweethearts, their aspirations were just too different for Sam to handle, and she soon broke up with Levi. Sam kept on track with her goals and what she thought she wanted well into college.

After meeting Destry in college, Sam finally thought they had found the right person they could settle down with━until Sams set-in-stone idea of the future got in the way. Sam found herself transferring to a different university to focus on her degree and not let anybody else distract her, finally realizing she wasn’t built for relationships.
