Curtis' right hand man. Hailing from nowhere and coming from nothing, Rhine claims his seat at the elder brother's side. Rhine is habitually enigmatic and confusing. At social gatherings, he is the highlight of the evening, but insufferable to converse directly with. Oddly forthcoming for a man of his position, he makes his intentions known, although always with a half smile. He seems to know what you're thinking. A truly detestable character. When he is spoken of in the upper levels of society, the conversation becomes so hushed, it is often presumed dead to the outsider. Such marvelous rumors and superstition circulate, but the libels don't use his name, whether out of fear of being cursed, or they are under the spell of his coin.
It is impossible to know Rhine. One may think they do, that they can condense him into an abstract, but they are mistaken. Even those closest to him admit, "He cannot exist without others present. He disappears as soon as we leave the room, like a specter."
From an unknown source, Rhine helps fill the King's coffers and spirits in times of turmoil. He is a powerful ally to Curtis, and promises to aid the boy any way he can.
