Grant

Backstory

Grant was always fascinated with history and mythological studies and often spent hours in both the local library and the Pastry Castle's library, enraptured by the magnitude of information and driven by his inquisitive nature. In his early teens, he began to apprentice under the head librarian at the royal library so he could spend more time there, learning as much as he could about history and any other subject the books within had to offer. In his mid-teens, he picked up his passion for music and played actively until he was 19, when the kingdom was attacked.

After the kingdom was attacked and the royal family overthrown, Grant laid low and did his best to care for his community and those in need. Ever compassionate, he protected those that he could. With little patience for injustice and greed, he formed an opposition to the unlawfully ruling force at age 26, seven years after the fall. Biding their time, they often resisted in less overt ways, but it was not unusual to see them cause attention-garnering displays of rebellion and strategic attacks guided by Grant's studies in historical strategy.

Grant and his collective joined Queen Cheesecake when she came back to take her kingdom, fighting alongside and aiding her. When they succeeded, Cheesecake offered him the position of head historian, librarian, and strategist for his utilization of history and strategy in battle. He declined an official government position and chose instead to travel and spend much needed time with his family. As his family returned to their family business as bakers, Grant settled into another active role in his community- beginning an "adventurers guild" of sorts. Though he is still occasionally informally consulted, there is little need for Grant to strategize for the kingdom's forces; He gets to spend much of his time leading in his role as guild head, volunteering in his community, and playing music again, much to his delight. He loves to keep bowls of sweet fruit on his desk!

Music

Grant loves to sing and play a myriad of instruments, and loves to learn how to play new ones. Currently, he can play the guitar, bass, piano/harpsichord, and is learning to play the hurdy gurdy with Queen Cheescake. He loves many genres, but alternative rock is his favorite.

On top of playing music, Grant loves to write it as well! In his downtime, you may even catch him writing poetry.

Magic

Grant is not an expert in magic by any means, more focused on physical strength and intellectual strategy. However, he has spent the time to learn, and loves to learn new and useful magics. At the moment, he knows basic defensive magic as well as spells to amplify sounds (which he mostly learned for the sake of his music).

Queen Cheesecake [ Close Friends ]

They've been close friends ever since Grant stumbled into the royal gardens when he was six. Losing her to the fall of the kingdom was devastating, like losing a little sister, though he always had a feeling she was out there. This feeling only grew as he heard stories in his community of a mysterious and familiar magic saving them from the tyrannical guards, and he was overjoyed (and a little bit pissed) when she made her return. They spend a lot of time together, catching up and making up for lost time.

Grandma Honey [ Grandmother ]

Grandma honey is Grant's adoptive grandmother. She adopted his mother when his mother was a child and later helped her raise Grant and his siblings. They are very close and Grandma Honey loves to dote on him.
