Demetri is the oldest out of the Espada siblings, making him the child with the highest expectations. Espada, at first, wanted to be the best child he could for his mother and father but after the birth of Emery - the desire of it became less to a point that he stopped caring.
But since Emery was born with complications of his visions, his childish concerns would grow weary and wanted to remain a decent older brother, in order to help little Emery if her eyes became more problematic.
In school Demetri was often the student who came home covered in dirt or scratches from playing too much in the sand or gravel in the school's playground. Most especially he found himself being lectured by his parents as he found himself fiddling around in the mud or soil.
"Don't listen to mom or dad, Demi. You don't need to be some nurse or some engineer to make them happy!, Do what you want, and don't worry about it. You're a cool enough brother anyways."

Because of the expectations of his parents, he grew weary the older he's gotten regarding his future. And Emery, despite being a child and being only ten years younger, would often be the one to comfort him when his friends couldn't help him. He'd find himself getting into fights in high school because of his poor choices, and made very little friends since his first year. Most of the people he'd hang with were Emery and her own friends and most of his choices were influence by them.
But no matter how many fights he got into, he was still a well respected student by many teachers. He paid attention, he did his work well. He studied and earned good grades. It wasn't long before he found himself with a full-ride to a university out of state.
"Espada's a good guy. Super good guy - but enough to take advantage of him. Can't believe the boss is just using him."

Demetri left his hometown to earn his degree in Environmental Engineering at first, but after his first year in the dorms eventually led him changing to pedology because he found the work a lot less exhausting. However, even when he graduated, he still had no plans to come back home and immediately landed a job in his field.
Espada was beyond a helpful hand and many were even dependent on Demetri when it came to their line of work. He was dedicated in his job, and rather happy that he was able to help others without being talked down. But not until he found out that his boss ended up taking up at least ten years of his hardworked research for himself - stealing and crediting his research on his own. Because of Espada's past of getting into fights, it was only expected that Demetri ended up throwing a punch or two out of anger before he was fired by his superiors. Even his coworkers, who knew of the situation never seemed to bother to help him.
And so Demetri ended up flying back home, rather upset of the whole ordeal. But nonetheless, Emery was there to welcome him back and did what he could to get back onto his feet. Though Demetri didn't want to take any of the opportunities that Emery was given to him and wanted to recover without taking any advantages over the others. Though, he finds himself jumping from job to job every time Emery catches up with him.
