"I have a friend who is very rich and famous in Asia. Every year he could fly over to see me and he would bring his twin sons. When you were a baby, one of sons would love to hold and take care of you... I always remembered that you were always excited to see him when you were little. And you'd cry for him every time he leaves out the door. You'd find so many creative ways to climb out of your crib just to be with him! That's how you're so clever!"
- Emery's Mother
Emery was born from parents that left the Philippines to pursue the American dream, and met in the wonderful weathered coast in San Diego. She is the second and youngest child of the Espada family. She was a healthy child but born with one single complication: she was born blind on her left eye.
But the difference in her eyes never made her different; she got along with people of her age of all different backgrounds but she mostly found peace with her best friends. She was a decently smart individual who rarely got into trouble, and very much enjoyed going to school just to be with her friends and classmates. In her home, she very much preferred time by herself, drawing and playing games in her awful lonesome.
However Emery rarely remembers much of her early childhood, but her mother always reminds her that there was something important missing about it that she couldn't recall at all.
"You might not remember it now, but I've felt compelled to hold you in my arms back when you were a baby. Even now, a wonderful young lady, it doesn't change now. I hope you would let me. Maybe it was meant to be when we've finally saw each other again over fifteen years later."
- Hope
Emery developed an introverted behavior starting from her middle school years and only stuck with two of her friends. She dedicated most of those two years in middle school studying and drawing and found out that socializing was rather a struggle to her in the long run.
Yet in high school she felt that her highly introverted character would discourage her from starting brand new as a freshman. Eventually ignoring her studies led to her making friends with an interesting set of people, but these people that she stuck with all throughout high school eventually became one of the closest people she had in her life. For a while she was in a relationship with a rough and tough upperclassman, but their relationship was broken after they drifted apart.
At the age of 17, a few months after she broke up with Hyde, under the requirements of her high school, she took this opportunity to volunteer at her old elementary school. From there, she fell upon a very young well-dressed teacher during her volunteer work. She was instantly captivated by his appearance and developed a one-sided crush until he started to notice.
He was rather amused with the whole romantic situation, and only planned to satisfy her with small, short-ended flirts. Yet discovering who she was made him think much different and now he feels as if she made to love him. However, he wanted to start off as friends before waiting a whole year to comfortably pursue a romantic relationship.
"From what I'm seeing. this Elois is protecting her from us, the bitter-faced girl believes Emery's enemy are those that value us as important. We shouldn't have pushed her too hard, now she's scared and too dependent on Elois in this world of ours..."
- Viktor
Her relationship with Hope was official once she turned 18, which was not long before she graduated high school. She wasn't necessarily ready to leave her home and enter the dorm life, thus decided to take it slow in a nearby community college with her friends. She felt as if her life was slow and would eventually turn mute, which highly was concerning for poor Emery and often vented with Hope about the situation. She was introduced into the Prodigal soon after Hope's suggestion to try something new and challenge herself as a personal overall. Hope simply saw Emery as a perfect potential of a leader, but no one else seemed to see it. Hence the amount of pressure put Espada into near psychological stress to a point she isolated herself after her constant failures.
For more than over a month of near isolation, she came out a brand new person. Whatever psychological damage had done to her merely awakened to what was known as "Elois." Regardless of Elois, Emery was still able to live normally but Elois would be highly regarded in the Prodigal world. Yet sometimes Emery is too reliant on her abilities and completely disregarding those around her.
- Emery was an introvert from elementary to middle school but wanted to start something new in highschool. She made friends and before she graduated her senior year, she fell in love with an elementary teacher named Hope.
- Hope and Emery eventually get into a relationship and Hope introduces her to the Prodigal to help further her skills.
- The Prodigal was too stressful for her to handle as an administrative member and thus isolated herself for a long period of time until she developed a second personality known as "Elois."
- Elois is a cold-hearted individual who often pushed away Emery's loved ones, believing that they were in the way of Emery's future goals and her progress as a prestigious member of the Prodigal.
