BACKSTORY

Cas grew up as a princess doing whatever her parents told her to do. She'd befriended Atlas as a child since their parents were having peace talks, and their relationship kept her from wanting to leave her parents. As time went on, however, Cassidy realized the way her parents treated her not normal, and would continue to control her for the rest of her life if something didn't change. She started leaving the castle more often and trying to make connections in order to rebel against her parents and have support only for her when she takes the throne.

PRESENT

She met Vallerie after she saved Cassidy from an assassination attempt, and Cassidy kept trying to meet with her to thank her and learn more about her. Eventually, it escalated to Vallerie sneaking into the castle to see Cassidy (much to Miles' chagrin), and eventually they fell in love.

However, Cassidy parents broke the news that she'd have to marry Atlas to "form a stronger alliance" between their kingdoms. Cassidy saw the attempt at chaining her to Solvern for what it was, and with the help of Vallerie and Miles, devised a plan to run away.

The plan went into action on her wedding day, where Cassidy was "kidnapped" by Vallerie and escaped on the ship in all the mayhem. Cassidy joins the crew and, despite being completely unexperienced with the real world, Cassidy doesn't regret anything.
