Garrick

Garrick, the main protagonist, is a newcomer to the PsycheNet establishment. His PsycheNet avatar is Rubberho.

He won an online contest held by PsycheNet and is now doing an internship at their headquarters in Denmark. He starts out on the job incredibly optimistic and gullible, but grows more cynical and rigid the more time he spends on the PsycheNet program.

Garrick is extraverted and seemingly confident in himself, but is impatient and grows frustrated with his co-workers reluctance to become friends with him. Garrick can be stubborn and has a tendency to not do what he's told. He doesn't consider himself a difficult person but the longer he works at the establishment the more constrained his relations become.

When first joining PsycheNet, Garrick didn't have a history of using the internet to an intensive degree, unlike his colleague Milo. It is only when Garrick spends more time in PsycheNet that he gets pulled into what can be considered as an internet addiction. From there on he falls prey to online scams, gambling, phishing, cat-fishing and has unfortunate encounters with the dark web. 

Before joining the PsycheNet facility, Garrick was studying cyber security. He has started and dropped out of a variety of university pathways multiple times. This history of what seems like indecisiveness has caused conflict between him and his family members, including sibling rivalry with his brother Greg, who has a successful career in archaeology.
