Profile
A brilliant yet elderly man had suddenly been given custody of his infant grandson, Serj, after the child's parents were killed in an accident. Wanting to care for him but knowing his physical limitations (and not wanting his work to suffer), the old man went into his workshop and created the Mechanical Automated Companion line of robots. Though they never made it into mass production, the first and only of their kind was tasked with childcare duties so that both the man and Serj could each prosper. The robot almost immediately took to shortening his name into the acronym Mac, and wished to be referred to as such from then on. How curious...
Mac and Serj were best friends, but as Serj grew into his teenage years and gained more human friends, a distance formed between them. Serj didn't really want his childhood "toy" to be hanging around him and his friends; this caused Mac to feel betrayed and dejected. How could Serj have known when Mac himself wasn't even sure how he had feelings to hurt in the first place?
Mac still kept up house maintenance until shortly after Serj's 18th birthday, when the old man came in and announced that it was time for Mac to be dismantled. As other robots began to approach him, Mac suddenly found himself wanting to survive, and escaped far beyond the perimeter of the household to (hopefully) avoid anything hunting him down. Luckily, he was equipped with concealed heavy weaponry and had excellent self-repair systems, so he lived a solitary life for several years... that is, until a robot caught up to him and Iggli and Shnoogle got tangled up in his getaway. Not wanting their new friend to be in danger, the duo took him in, and they all eventually ended up living with Mr. Shades as well.
Serj wasn't home when Mac left the household, and was simply told that Mac had gone away and wouldn't be coming back. Mac still dearly misses Serj, and wants to meet up with him to both see him again and to convince his grandfather to call off the dismantling. If only Mac knew how much Serj truly needs him now, as he has been on a downward spiral ever since his closest friend Neil disappeared over three years ago...
