Zaraff's Links
She's his soulmate <3 He doesn't get what she sees in him. She's beautiful, street smart, & seriously quite the fire cracker. Yet, there she is, at his side. Zaraff is fairly dumbfounded she went for a guy like him. Well, I mean, it was mutual, but still, he's counting his blessings.
He's reliable, if not a major goofball, but he's good to her & great with her little sister. She feels safe with him. Just when she'd thought all she needed was Jen in her life, there he was to add more to their lives.
Well, she's a little ball of energy, & a fast learner, but he worries that she's easy to pick up. Granted, he can't tell her how to live her life, but as the security, he feels like he needs to watch over her. Is that so wrong?
Damn, why are all the good & attractive men unavailable? Shit, she was so excited to work with such a cutie only to see his girlfriend bring him to work the second day on the job. But she won't be a home breaker, so she won't flirt. Who knows, maybe he has a cute brother or a hot bestie.
While he knows that Jen is Kay's sister & not child, he certainly feels like she's their little girl. Being his age & having a kid might strike most of his friends as weird, but at this point, he can't imagine it any other way.
Jen doesn't really remember their parents very well at this point, but Zaraff does his best for her. She was afraid of him in the beginning, but now she sees him as someone to keep her safe, & it makes her happy to see her big sister smiling with him.
Considering the jobs he's had prior, Briandy is a pretty chill boss to have. It's pretty cool that she'd be willing to hire non-xynthii. He loves his job. He's also a bit excited to commute off world for work. It gives him a certain thrill, & thanks to Bri being so savvy, he has a cheap traveler's pass.
Zaraff is kind of shrimpy, but he keeps the rowdy patrons in line. She's impressed, Jackson hasn't even had to fish him out of any "We used to eat you, rat" fights or possible attempts on his life. Kids got guts.
Jackson is a titch intimidating, but Zaraff also knows he's dependable. He's quiet, but gives him all the back up he needs. Jack's a great superior to be honest, & doesn't feel like he's on a tricycle or has training wheels so to speak on the job. Zaraff feels like he's part of the team, which is nice after his last job.
Zaraff is a smart kid. He thinks good on his feet, & keeps his wits about him. While he knows he has to keep an eye on the kid in case someone actually thinks he's a snack, Jackson has also had the privilege to see Zaraff use his size changing ability to scare potential threats away wisely.
Lox is probably the least intimidating Xynthii he's ever encountered, but the guy is sure sociable. It's hard to not like him, plus he laughs at all Zaraffs bad jokes. Half the time Zaraff feels like he should protect Lox from other Xyns rather than worrying about himself though. All those lusty hungry eyes that get put on the poor guy.
God, that kid makes him laugh. He can't believe Briandy hired a Ryone for security duty, but he's proving himself often enough that Lox can't really complain. Plus, Jack is around, so he figures the kid is good enough.
He has to admit that there aren't as many Ryones as he'd like at the pub, so he's always pretty stoked to see Franco. Plus, Franco bellies right up to the bar & gets right to chatting with Lox. He has to admit, this guy has balls. Not that Lox is a bad, guy, don't get him wrong, just Franco acts like they were frat buddies or something.
Zaraff's alright in Franco's book. He represents at his favorite pub. He has no idea how old he is, but the kid is special to be a bouncer. Franco may be shorter, but they're both pretty small in the sea of tall patrons. Franco sucks at size changing, so he's glad he's got Zaraff & Jacks to watch out for him.
