Stage

Peru joined the Skywing army when she was a young adult and excelled in the battlefield. During her time as a soldier, Peru met Ferrum. Their relationship began as partners on the field, but they became partners as the years passed. Peru quickly rose the ranks from solider to General through her great skills and strategic prowess. From there she gained connections to the Skywing royalty and joined the nobility. However, Ferrum remained a soldier fighting on the front lines. She felt torn, as having a relationship with a lower-class soldier and being respected among the nobility were two paths she couldn't walk at once. Peru chose her pride and publicly cut ties with her partner. The two still met in secret.

Near the end of decades of skirmishes with neighboring tribes and years of hiding her relationship with Ferrum, Peru discovered she was expecting eggs. She courted with other males within the nobility to distance herself from Ferrum, but it was obvious who the father was. There was no hiding their secret. All Peru could do was hope that her two eggs would hatch into successful dragons who could redeem themselves from Peru's mistake. The two kept separate while the eggs were incubating, but one battle with the Sandwings forced the two to fight alongside each other again. However, this battle would not be one of glory. Peru suffered a severe injury to her hips and wings, and when the dust settled, Ferrum lay dead.

Stage

Peru mourned her injury and the death of her partner. She kept her position as a General in the army, but was no longer able to fight. Instead, she was repositioned to train young soldiers within the safety of the Kingdom. To her dragonets Halia and Stratosphere, she was not the best mother. Peru took out a lot of her anger and grief on the two dragonets when they were young. She saw a lot of Ferrum in her son, Stratosphere, and felt a whirlwind of emotions anytime she looked at the miserable twig. Anger, grief, shame, disappointment - he was so much like his father, but could never live up to the name. His eyes were too bright and kind, his claws were too dull, his heart too pure. When Stratosphere ran from home Peru was angry, but more angry at herself than anyone else.

Peru poured herself into her daughter, Halia. If Stratosphere could not make her proud, then Halia must. Peru lived through Halia, taught her all she knew, raised her to be strong and smart and ambitious like her. Peru put the burden of her legacy and her pride onto Halia, hoping her daughter would become better than she was.
