Inky was created by Tom after Tom needed help with maintenance in the studio. When he was created, Tom deemed him imperfect and was about to kill Inky, but was stopped by his wife Allison. Tom keeps Inky alive but doesn't take care of him very well. He only gives him expired food and doesn't allow Inky to see anyone. After Tom broke up with Allison, he erased all Inky's memories of her including memories of his creation. After that, Tom started to act more harsh towards Inky. He stopped feeding him and wouldn't talk to him unless it was necessary. Inky made some imaginary friends out of inanimate objects but they were all taken away from him. Inky grew progressively more lonely and became desperate for Tom's approval. He thought if he learned to get smarter, Tom would like him better. If Tom would criticize him about something Inky would always research that topic to try and get better. Tom didn't like this and would either yell at Inky or lock him in a room when he tried to impress Tom. One time when Inky was locked in a room, he was hungry as he hadn't eaten in a few days. He started panicking, not wanting to die and formed an ink spike out of his hands. He broke down the door to escape but was punished by Tom. Inky had broken his wrist when breaking the door down and Tom pulled his wrist to make Inky get more hurt. This injury triggered bad haphephobia that only amplified as Tom continued to hurt him. Inky was kept in the same room for twenty years as he learned to fend for himself. One day, Inky ran out of his food supplies and was forced to chug a bottle of salt to survive. Tom was infuriated and in return, he tears Inky's soul from his body (see what that means in the info dump section). With his memories and old personality essentially erased after his soul was taken, Tom forces him to kill almost every employee from Joey Drew Studios, the only survivor of Inky's wrath being Joey himself. Joey finds Inky's soul and puts it back. He yells at Inky blaming him for everything, before realizing that it wasn't Inky's fault. He tries to console Inky, but Inky runs off, horrified with what he'd done. Inky wanders around the studio for about a week, finding evidence of everything he did. He runs into a group of lost ones and they try killing him, calling him a monster and telling him to end his life. After a week, Inky had enough. He tries to take his own life but is stopped by Alpha, who seemingly had no idea of the things Inky had done. Alpha could tell something was off and invited Inky to tag along with him. Inky agrees, in the hopes that he could find Joey and have Joey kill him. They start looking for Joey and meet Nightmare, Broken, and Tattletail. Inky and Alpha didn't hit it off at first. Inky lashes out at Alpha and ends up accidentally hurting his feelings. Nightmare calls Inky out and Inky apologizes to Alpha. They soon become friends and start to get along. However, Tattletail reveals to Alpha what Inky had done, and Inky runs away thinking it'd be better for him to keep his distance from everyone for their safety as Inky was scared that he'd accidentally hurt them. However, Alpha gets kidnapped and Inky is in the area and saves his life. Alpha questions why Inky killed all those people and Inky breaks down, revealing to Alpha how Tom had taken away his soul. Alpha was horrified, as taking out someone's soul is known as the worst thing you can do to a toon. Inky tries to take his own life once again but is stopped by Alpha. Alpha convinces Inky to give life another chance and Inky rejoins the group. They find Joey and become friends with him, Shadow, and Alice. Inky and Alpha get closer and they start to have feelings for each other. However, the safehouse gets attacked and Alpha is nearly killed, as well as a good majority of their friends sadly dying. Inky saw Nightmare die in front of him, and then helps Joey save Alpha. He and Joey bury all their friends, and once Alpha recovers, they go to confront Drippy and Tom. Tom ends up dying and Inky is the one to see his body. Bendy almost dies as well, and Alpha, Bendy, Joey and Inky leave the studio. Inky changes his jacket as it's tied to too many bad memories. Inky tries his best to help Joey around the house and is trying to cope with his trauma and depression, and gets frequent nightmares. Inky and Joey go to the studio and they find Bitty. Inky adopts him and takes care of Bitty. Inky and Alpha become a couple and they try to overcome the trauma of everything that happened in the studio.
