Moongaze ⭐

• DESCRIPTION: blue rosetted lynx sepia point with low white

An old, sleek-furred bengal mix, thin and a little scruffy in their old age. They have blind eyes- they were originally blue, but, the scars across their face tell the story well enough. They have flecks of white fur, old age peeking through.

Wise • cryptic • solemn • distant

Moongaze is a seer, with frequent premonitions, dreams, and visions of the future. They are ancient, some say old as the Moon herself, and a little disenchanted with life. They spend a lot of time watching things that aren't there, or at least not visible to most cats, and have a tendency to talk to themselves, in a language unknown.

They often, to the rest of the clan, seem a little sad, lonely, despite being surrounded by cats. They isolate themselves almost unconciously, spending most of their time in their den or watching the Moon.

Moongaze was a priest of the Moon, and a high-ranking member of the Kingdom of Stars, hundreds of years ago. They had a different name, back then, and their title was simply the Moon Watcher- but since then, their name has been lost, and they go by Moongaze most often.

When Icarus, the leader of the Starseekers, betrayed the Kingdoms and attempted to kill the Lady Moon, Moongaze was one of the few who escaped the devastation with their magic intact. They were blinded by Icarus in their escape, and fled to Star's Peak, watching the desctruction of their family, their Kingdom and all the cats throughout the land, with blind eyes.

The Seer spent moons upon moons, years, in that little valley. The Moon was silent more often than not, though her instructions were to wait- she had plans to bring back their kingdoms, to rebuild but the cat who would lead the new community wouldnt yet be born for many, many years. And so Moongaze waited. Watched the moon, slept in the caves to keep warm, hunted for themself the best they could with only their magic to see.

They kept the memory of the Kingdoms alive through only their tales, telling them to the occasional passerby. Moongaze would, on those long nights alone in the caves, search for the ghosts, the spirits, of their friends and family, long gone. They never stayed long, if they were to be found at all, but Moongaze held onto those moments, speaking to the past, with their whole being.

The Moon told them when Nightstar, then Nightkit, was born. It was then they started to prepare, finally, for the new beginning. When Nightfang fled her old clan, Moongaze was ready to meet her. They led her to Star's Peak, guided her through the gift of leadership given by the Moon, told her of her destiny.
