Asking him to marry me was one of the best decisions I ever made. When we first met, I mostly just liked him because 'flirting awkwardly through card-tricks' was a refreshing change of pace compared to most townsfolks' habit of implying that I never should have left the city, but as we got to know each other better I loved him more and more. What we have in common is that we both like to use the things we enjoy to make people happy, even if we're earning a living in some other way.
It was love at first sight - he's funny, good-looking, not afraid to take risks to follow his dreams, and an amazing cook. Then when I got to know him better, he also turned out to just be one of the nicest people I've ever met. How did my attempts at getting his attention even work? I'm not complaining!
Of course she's great, she's my daughter! Almost nothing escapes her notice, which has caused some awkward situations with the neighbors on occasion, but that's on them for cheating on each other. I kind of like that she found out about their affairs, I'd been dying to know who was sending those rose-scented letters all the time.
His jokes are really stupid at times, but other than that, he's a great dad. I appreciate how honest he is, I never catch him lying to me. How he can manage to deliver everyone's mail without wanting to know what's inside it is beyond me, he must hold so many secrets every day.
Poor girl, she's just made some poor life choices (who hasn't?), and now she can't even afford a decent meal. I can't very well invite her over to dinner because of how Ceciel and Izan feel about her, so I bring the dinner over to her instead! She seems to really enjoy my extra-rare steak dinner in particualr.
He means well, but none of the food he brings to the library during my shift has any business going near books, and I can't really gain sustenance from any of it. I always make sure to eat it quickly so there's no risk of it staining the pages.
She's a good friend to Ceciel, and I also appreciate that she doesn't make fun of my lack of knowledge about farming to my face. Welcome to stay over for dinner whenever she feels like it.
Ceciel's really lucky to have him as a dad, he makes the best food. Whenever he stops by the farm it's always exciting, because he doesn't just bring the mail, he brings some experimental batch of cookies as well!
He makes every seafood dish I make sound like it should be worth a lot of money just by how dangerous the ingredients supposedly were to acquire. I love that! And it's all fake so I don't have to feel guilty about putting him in harm's way by continuing to buy fish from him. ...Right?
One of my most discerning customers, and an extremely talented cook. If I catch anything exotic, then instead of selling it I'll sometimes give it to him in exchange for getting to eat part of what he makes with it.
She claims to appreciate any snacks I offer her, but I've never seen her actually eat anything. If you give her a cookie, it just vanishes the moment you look away. Is she only accepting my food out of politeness?
I LOVE his baking! It's probably not good for my fish to eat his cookies, but once or twice won't hurt, and it's not like it's the same fish every time. Has he ever considered opening one of those places where people give you 'money' in exchange for food, what do you call 'em, a 'restaurant'?
I didn't have the heart to tell this kid that "Fairyland" has no mailboxes, and that even if it did, the postal service needs a little bit more to go on than "the house of Glenn's fairy parents" for the address.
I once wrote a letter to my fairy parents, but I'm pretty sure the package I got in return was made by him, because the 'fairy bread' tasted exactly like the cookies my regular parents sometimes get from him. Which... Thanks... I guess?
I love that deforestation isn't really a problem around here. The people are convinced that if they cut down the wrong tree, bad supernatural things will happen, so lumber is only collected by people like Felicia who have been trained in the secret family art of "only chopping down some of the trees (and charging extra for it)." The woods are beautiful, and I have her family spreading tall tales about cursed trees to thank for it.
I remember his restaurant! Vaguely, though, I was like five. He brought out this cake thing for dessert that he set on fire, and I started crying because I didn't realize that it was supposed to happen. Wish I could pay him to make that again, but he only bakes for fun now.
It took me some time to warm up to him. At first I had this uncomfortable feeling that he was probably making fun of me behind my back, but as I got to know him better, I realized that he pokes fun at everyone, and that made it feel a lot less personal. Also, he actually helps out when you're failing at something, which is definitely more than you can say for some other people I've known!
When I first met him twenty years ago, I thought one thing: "Wow, he's starting a restaurant over here? That will never work, I have to see this." After actually going to the restaurant, I thought: "Wow, that city kid really knows how to cook! Too bad he put his restaurant all the way over here." He's so funny, I'm glad he was too embarassed about his failure to go back home. He always delivers the mail on time and sometimes even brings us snacks. His potluck contributions are legendary. Could I have thought of a better dad for that random baby my wife found in a cabbage field? Nope! His kid might not learn how to till a field from him, but she'll sure get some great food.
