I absolutely can NOT have her find out that I'm not as brave as everyone thinks I am. She can investigate her "mysteries" far away from me.
Doesn't like me for some reason and I'm not sure why. I get the feeling that she's hiding something from me... Her family's secrets on how they can get high-quality wood from the forest, maybe? I'm not interested in that, I want to know why the trees are cursed in the first place!
Her boss is one of my family's biggest customers so I've been seeing her around quite a lot after she started her apprenticeship! I'm excited about all the cool stuff she'll make... What do you MEAN you've gone into the woods to pick up firewood before?!
Don't tell her I said this, but I think her family doesn't really believe the woods are dangerous, and that they're only claiming it is so that they can sell lumber for higher prices. Most of the woodland spirits are very nice, and the sentient trees will ask you not to chop them down long before you swing your axe into them.
His dad's one of my family's biggest customers. Even I'm not scared of him, I've known him since he was a baby, he's practically my nephew! However, I am absolutely terrified that his relatives are going to come back and, I dunno, decide that they made a mistake abandoning him here. Not a good fear to share with him.
She's so cool and brave, I want to be the Felicia of music when I grow up! Actually, maybe Felicia is already the Felicia of music? I've never heard her sing or play any instrument, but maybe she's very good at it.
I'm not afraid of Romy. My mane covers most of my neck, silver wards off the undead, and this particular vampire only drank from farm animals, so she probably won't drink the blood of anyone who's late to bring back a library book. Does that mean I'll ask her for a book recommendation? Nah, reading is boring. Waste of good paper, had to do too much of that in school.
There's a powerfully unpleasant aura around her. I'm not sure if I can somehow sense her dislike for 'reading for fun' like it's a palpable thing, or if my vampiric nature is causing me to have a reaction to the silvered earrings she wears, but it feels physically uncomfortable to be close to her.
Like most people in this town my age or younger, I've had him as a teacher at some point. Recently I found the essay I wrote for his class about how hot air balloons work, and it was so bad, grammar and spelling mistakes everywhere - I hope he remembers nothing about it.
I don't buy a lot of wood, so I don't end up speaking with Felicia all that often. The funny thing is, I still distinctly remember her wanting to become a balloonist when she was a child. Must have come up in class at some point.
I'm kind of jealous: his stories don't make him seem very brave, but nobody thinks less of him when he mentions that the first thing he allegedly did when he ran into an enormous sea serpent was to hide behind a barrel of fish. Sure, it's all made up to entertain young children, but I can just imagine the disapproving frowns of my older relatives if I told a story like that!
She no doubt has lots of exciting stories to tell about the woods. It's kind of a waste that she doesn't do that - I get that it's all about keeping the family mystique intact, but surely, she could share a little tale of adventure, every once in a while? If she's worried she's not a good story teller I could give her some tips on how to make it more entertaining for an audience!
I remember his restaurant! Vaguely, though, I was like five. He brought out this cake thing for dessert that he set on fire, and I started crying because I didn't realize that it was supposed to happen. Wish I could pay him to make that again, but he only bakes for fun now.
I love that deforestation isn't really a problem around here. The people are convinced that if they cut down the wrong tree, bad supernatural things will happen, so lumber is only collected by people like Felicia who have been trained in the secret family art of "only chopping down some of the trees (and charging extra for it)." The woods are beautiful, and I have her family spreading tall tales about cursed trees to thank for it.
When the Lake of Catsbane reaches out with an enormous column of frothing water, and forms it into a hand large enough to drown you where you stand, you know you've messed up. I'm sorry, I'm never chopping wood on the shores of your domain ever again!
Oh no! I only wanted to do a friendly wave to one of the forest-keepers - it's so rarely that they visit me - but she screamed and started running without ever looking back. Did she think I was upset?
How is he so jolly all the time? His farm is super haunted and way too close to the woods!
Felicia is a lot closer to my children's age than mine, and I don't know her that well - for some reason she's always busy when my wife hosts a potluck. She seems to have grown into a confident young adult who took to the family trade well, though. I'm sure her parents are really proud of her!
I'm sure the inhabitants of Fairyland can be "reasoned with" and "have good intentions, mostly, if you manage to not break some obscure rule of etiquette." The moment I see a suspiciously glowing light in the air, I'm running.
I like her. She's easy to scare away and it's super polite of her to have silvered her axe, the stench of iron always burns my nose something fierce!
