"Welcome to The Garden"

Long, long ago Satan and God decided that neither had time to make sure the balance of life and death was kept, nor did they really want to let the other person be in control of something so powerful. And so, they decided to collaborate on creating a new being, as to make sure that they had equal influence in the matter. This is actually one of the only times they have ever put their differences aside to do their job.
The creature they brought to life was the Deity Khaal - a being neutral being, meaning it was neither holy nor unholy. Khaal got a lot of freedom to do as he pleased, as long as he took care of Life and Death, which back then was considered to be very connected and therefor the same.
With time Khaal mingled with other neutral deities as they were born into Rhelicha in different ways. He found them easier to get along with and as a rule of thumb, he helped them get comfortable as a deity, as his influence stretched far and wide. One of these other old deities was Aquaaris, Mother of the sea. THough Khaal was older than her and he helped her a lot, Aquaaris' motherly atmosphere shaped their relationship a lot. Having no other parental figure and often feeling drained from his duties, Khaal found a lot of comfort in her presense. Together they closely collaborated on multiple projects - She helped him make Kiilve, a waterfall in Khaals garden, whose water extended living beings' life. In turn, he blessed her so that she could fill any body of water with life, despite the hard enviromental issues. Life would find its way, even in the deepsea, where the pressure in the water was harsh or in the saltiest of lakes, where fish had a hard time adjusting.
Despite how much Aquaaris loved to create, she could hardly control and take care of all of it, and so to help her she had five daughters. One of these daughters, Kraken, was in general resposible for cephalopods. She was quite chaotic in nature and so her creations reflected that many of them growing to be feral in nature.
Despite a rocky start of many hundreds of years, Khaal and Kraken soon found that their opposite personalities was quite matcihng - Kraken challenged Khaals very introverted nature and Khaal in turn offered stability. The unlikely pair fell in love, though this relationship wouldn't sail for as long as Khaal had hoped. It's a bit hard to find good sources on what happened - Khaal isn't inclined to talk about the events himself, however the stories that is told on goes something like this:
Kraken was still very wild and unruly, but as this softer and kinder love with Khaal grew, she found herself unable to live in the same enviroment as she had before. The wild and chaotic offspring she had brought into this world was too feral and unused to her newfound soft nature. Finding so much joy in giving back to what she loved, she didn't hesitate when her children wished to tear her apart at eat her. To her, it seemed perfectly normal, like how the octopus mother also becomes food for her kids, in order to help them grow. As a deity, the concept of dying was not one Kraken understood nor cared to understand. Nothing was as important as to dive headfirst into her new passion; to unconditionally give onto what she believed in, purely out of love.
Khaal was devastated over her loss, without her vessel, he couldn't bring her back to her own self, unless he was to made her a new one. In his heart however, she knew she had done as she wanted and as much as it saddened him, he respected her choice to do with her live as she wanted.
After Kraken was gone, he didn't have the same energy to continue the work he had done since the dawn of time and so he distracted himself by taking someone under his wing - someone who could be trained into taking the role of balancing death, so that he only had to focus on life. Some say it was because of the loss of his loved one, that caused that part of his job to feel much too heavy for him to continue bearing. The person he chose as his apprentice was the 1st Death, Ehlyze. Years and years passed, his sadness slowly faded as he found a lot of calm in his job and nturing his garden. One day he decided to find out where Kraken's soul was. Despite the fact that she had been dead, her soul had to be reborn into a new vessel - someone who wasn't the partner he had once had. Even so, as a last symbol of his love, he wanted to offer her soul immortality, something she once had, but no longer was guaranteed.
Very befittingly, he found out that her soul had been reincarnated into a chaotic cecaelia, Raboraska. He was wild, powerful and eager to create in his own ways, very akin to Kraken. It felt easy for Khaal to offer Raboraska immortality for though he was very aware they were not the same, he found the same traits endearing in Raboraska. And though Raboraska didn't remember their life together in the past, he seemed very excited around the deity.
Khaal offered Raboraska a magical ring that would protect Raboraska from dying, which Raboraska in return relentlessly joked made them a couple, in part due to the lingering feelings his soul had for Khaal. As Khaal didn't really seem to comment on it, Raboraska just assumed that that's how it was, offering to give Khaal a ring in return, though also noting that those weren't easy to put on a hoof.
Ever since then Khaal and Raboraska has grown close, not quite in the same way as Kraken and Khaal did, but with time of getting to know each other, Raboraska puzzled the story together and heped Khaal mend years of untreated sorrow. They grew very close and in time Khaal came to adore Raboraska in his own way. He wasn't Kraken, and that was fine. Nothing could really replace her. Instead, he got the oppertunity to once again to feel the joy of finding someone special to share life with.

Personality

Khaal is a wise, soft-spoken soul. A lot of the time he is percieved as majestic, patient and the ideal diety - fair, thoughtful and considerate.
That said, Khaal isn't vrey patient with people who treat nature badly, in particular the nature in his garden. If you come to visit his home, which is a large garden that looks more like a forest, you better behave. His home is very important to him, as he spend eons and eons tending to the fragile ecosystem, lovingly creating everything in it. It's his relaxation project and may Death have mercy on any mortal fool who stumbles in there carelessly, especially with the intend to rob him of the precious fruits growing in there.
Khaal is quite stoic and calm these days - years of experiencing intense emotions has hardened him up quite a bit, but when he's around people he feels close to, such as Aquaaris or Raboraska, he softens up considerably.

Physical Abilities

  • Can shapeshifts into different sizes, as well as change into a humanoid shape. It's one one he uses much unless Raboraska asks him to
  • Has horribly fatal kicks, even if he never uses it

Magical Abilities

  • Whereever Khaal goes, a trail of white flowers, like the ones on him, tend to follow
  • Can manipulate life
  • Technically in a pinch can fiddle a lil bit of the death stuff too, but he doens't like doing so at all

Likes

  • Gardening
  • Peace
  • Creatures like Fairies, Nymphs, Irfaes and nature guardians in general.

Dislikes

  • Fire
  • Obsolete God and Satan - he found them quite annoying to deal with. In extension he heavily dislikes war and quarrels because of their behaviourisms
  • Killing that isn't done for the sake of surviving

Trivia

  • Khaal had some kids with Kraken and many more with Raboraska. He doesn't really take on much of a father role though, which has been something that's been very established
  • Khaal doesn't have a mouth that's visible normally
  • The horns he has is a symbol of his direct connection to Satan and Obsolete God, mimicking their thorn halo and horns respectively

Significant Relationships

Raboraska

Not... not spouse. Hrm. Friend. Good, close friend. Mhn. Spouse?? Love.

Khaal isn't really sure where to put Raboraska in terms of relationship. The have kids and Raboraska calls him for his husband and like-- Khaal doens't mind. He likes Raboraska, a lot. But not,, well maybe, but not really- it's not the same but like-- hrm. It's complicated, but at the same time not. As much as Khaal isn't sure where to place Raboraska, he is certain that he knows what really matters; He loves Raboraska and the cecaelia has helped him through a lot. Despite whatever else thye may be, Raboraska is first and foremost one of his closest friends.

Aquaaris
images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTyvpcimVuvF5rf5fHfjxt
Dear Friend

Aquaaris has been there with him longer than anyone else. She's one of the only deities that Khaal really can spend a lot of time socializing with, since their relationship is very low maintanance.

Kraken
images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTyvpcimVuvF5rf5fHfjxt
Lost love

Kraken had a big role in Khaals development and maturing as a deity. She means so much to him and despite their time together feeling like it was far, far too short, he treasures all the memories he has for her. After her death Khaal actually cried so many tears that they manifested into two new species, which now roams Rhelicha's Middle realm.

Ehlyzhe (1st Death)
images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTyvpcimVuvF5rf5fHfjxt
Friend and apprentice

Khaal had a strong relationship with Ehlyze - she was one of the first mortals he really made a strong connection with. He taught her very well and helped her out in her duties as Death, realizing that it was a lot of work to place on another being. It helped a lot that teaching others wasn't exactly new to him - once she was dead, he was quite saddened as well, however. In an odd twist of face, she would actually find a loophole and come back to life later, though into another world. Khaal is glad that she got the chance to live her life out more fully and though thye don't see each other that often anymore, he still is quite pleased that she comes to visit him in his garden.

Death (8th)
images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTyvpcimVuvF5rf5fHfjxt
Coworker

Khaal doesn't have a strong mond with the Deaths that followed Ehlyze. It was civil, but not the same friendship. Death is very much the same, Khaal is very neutral about him. That said, he thinks Death does a really good job and out of the other ones that had taken this position, he'd argue that Death is probably one of the best. Poor man is working himself to the bone though, he seems absolutely exhausted.
