Doherty

doherty is a unicorn (view snakeshunt @ https://toyhou.se/~world/81864.snakeshunt for more info) who ran away from the connacht kingdom with his sister boann when she was a teen and he was only a child

he is unnamed (doherty is a surname) but since unicorns break contact with their parents and children are raised communally it didn't matter to him and he just adopted it as a firstname. he possesses no magic and his sister hauled him out of their home when he was only about 7 because she hated seeing how he was treated, even in such a harsh environment it was clear he was getting the short end of the stick. he lives in a glen in irish wilderness with her and they've been living like this for 20 years. because he can't protect himself against snakes he usually stays at home unless boann can walk around with him and ward them off

he's grouchy but kind of pathetic at the same time, as much as he grumbles he's not actually a force to be reckoned with. he likes illumination and metalwork and gilding and spends a lot of his time transcribing gaeilge stories that boann tells him. sort of a softie and prone to dropping his cold front

he has plenty of bandages wrapped around healing snakebites on his body. because snakes are noncorporeal their bites never really heal, he just keeps the bandages on for as long as he needs to until the pain just turns into background noise. he has a particularly bad one on his left ankle that makes him limp.
