Donn is most often seen with a tired expression on his face. Although he likes to think he's mastered the calm, understanding look, it ends up just a little bit disconcerting. Everything about him has a slightly rounded edge to it, peculiarly welcoming when accompanied with a hard interior.

His eyes always have a sharpness to that yellow, something that can be taken as keen, or attentive, or perhaps threatening. If closely examined, they'll likely give away whatever feeling he might try to hide, though it can be difficult to look past the gentle smile and long, resting eyebrows that help to keep things civil.

He has broad shoulders, a slim waist, and very long limbs; it isn't uncommon to hear remarks on him being "all legs". But he is certainly not gangling; there is no uncertainty in his stance, appearing instead strong and lithe. Donnovan is someone easily described as comfortable in his own skin.

Behind him hangs his tail, long and thin but effortlessly kept out of the way. The end of it is especially prickly, just too soft to be called spines but still not exactly pleasant to touch. This is especially true when Donn gets riled up, as that causes the stiff hairs to prickle up even more. And though he tries to keep the hair on his head smoothed back as best he can, it is subject to the same occurrence.

His clothing style is generally business casual, and he is particularly drawn to white shirts.

There's no denying that Donnovan is a charmer. He's got charisma to spare, and finds it very easy to work with people (or have them work with him). He does, however, suffer from a bit of a temper, and while he knows how to step back and let someone else take over, if something continually does not go his way he isn't able to keep it bottled up. This comes up most often when a person is being purposely difficult with him, and if he feels someone has wronged him he can be incredibly petty, if not more malicious. Although he tries his best to be amicable when faced with disagreeable characters, some things just can't be looked past. He has no limit on holding grudges.

Donn has an incredible work ethic, which can easily be expected from a surgeon. It is difficult to pull him away from whatever he's working on, but he also knows how to prioritize; if something comes up that requires more immediate attention, he will drop his current preoccupation to deal with it. Most people will attest that he is a pleasure to work with, due to his generally pleasant demeanor and ability to get things done, translating into an ability to motivate others to get things done.

Donnovan doesn't do this job to make himself feel better, and he certainly doesn't do it to have something to brag about. Although he can't say he doesn't sport a fair amount of self confidence, he isn't cocky about it, and if someone asked he would of course demonstrate anything he could, but he wouldn't show off just for the sake of it; in fact, he would usually be more than content to be left to his own devices. As such he tends to keep people at an arm's length, and definitely wouldn't be caught hanging out with anyone. He has acquaintances, but no one he could call a true friend.

Donnovan Miles is a very lonely man, something he would never admit, either to others or himself. In his younger years he was certainly not outgoing, but after college he became even more reserved. He shares nothing about his personal life with his coworkers, and doesn't much talk with anyone outside of work. Any attempts to get to know him are met with suspicion and a cold shoulder. He justifies this to himself as it being no one else's business, but in reality he is afraid of being vulnerable.

Donnovan Miles has worked long and hard to get where he's at. His family was fairly well-off, which made it easy enough to get through college and medical school. His parents were more than willing to pay all the expenses, and for that he is grateful, but as soon as he could detach himself entirely from them, he did. He has not looked back since.

Even before that point he had been growing steadily more distant from his family and the few friends he had. During his college years, as he worked toward his medical degree, he hung out with Kacey Oliver, a friend of a friend who wouldn't leave him alone when the two met. To Donnovan, Kacey seemed like someone genuinely interested in him and willing to put in effort to know him. They were never in an official relationship, but Kacey's lack of seriousness regarding such rubbed Donn the wrong way, and he began to question Kacey's motivation for befriending him. Eventually Kacey disappeared, but not before making it clear that they were the only person who really cared about Donn.

After this Donn retreated into himself and determined not to get too close to anyone else. He moved to High Point and found work at Cordage General Hospital. He lives comfortably but plainly, without a shred of personality in his apartment. To his dismay, this relative peace will be disturbed when Kacey resurfaces...
