Night was borne into slavery, and as such, does not remember his birth name or his own family origin. He had an incredibly rough childhood, all the way up to young adulthood.

Growing up, he was quite beautiful to the discerning eye and had many suitors from afar-- at least, until almost all of these prospective Noble folk understood that he was a slave. The growing caning and whipping marks that tallied up as he grew certainly made his status more clear.
He often had to "work" under women of the house to earn favor from the families that took care of him, and also undertook the brunt of the punishment when their husbands would find out what had conspired. He was more or less fired and repurchased, home-to-home, due to this and could not keep situated long enough.
Upon his visible adulthood- when his body no longer held conventional beauty and intrigue- he fell into a bad way with his last masters. Rarely does he elaborate on this incident, if ever, but this life-changing moment ultimately freed him and he ran to the furthest outskirts of the Kingdom at large, where he mostly aids farmers and their families any which way he can.

He was trained in many things over the years, but ultimately fell to becoming a laborer most of all, due to his large and sturdy build, paired with his calm, neutral demeanor. He can lift a shockingly large amount of weight and makes a point to show this usefulness when meeting strangers who can pay him.

Night is incredibly private, at work or off duty. He frequently goes out of his way to seem near mute, and has a difficult time trusting anyone, proven well-intentioned or otherwise. There is a bit of vanity in his secrecy, wanting to appear more intelligent than he is compared to the average person.
He never raises hands to others even in means of self defense, and the same goes for his words when feeling bold enough to speak for himself.

Notes and trivia:

• He has what some would call an eidetic memory; he can recount things incredibly clearly, though he does not let anyone know this-- simply uses his mind to his own means
• Night can barely read and cannot write at all. However, he has great interest in philosophy and the 'greats', though they are controversial to some, he  is inspired by them. Most importantly is his growing interest in the doomed death cult on the outskirts of the Kingdom, since he has heard quite a bit of them, living so near to their compound
• Though he has had many paramours, he finds it hard to connect to women and older men in particular. He respects strangers that fit these descriptors, sure, but he is weary, now, around them
