Kauros Thyme

Kauros didn't really have much of a childhood. He was basically abandonded in the streets by his parents. Some man took him in and helped raise him. This man was aware of Karl's interest in technology and science, though unfamiliar with the material he worked with. Since he was born and raised in the 1600s he felt very out of place for his time. Making many major scientific discoveries and technological advancements that wouldn't be discovered til hundreds of years later.

The librarian didn't understand what he was making half the time, or really how any of it worked. He would just silently sit in a corner reading a book while Karl was hard at work at his desk that the man had given him to work at. The two basically lived out of the library, since the man didn't have enough money to buy a proper house. He didn't mind though. He loved to learn and learned to read at a pretty young age.

Karl had always been very interested in the concept of being able to travel through time. He had read many stories and fairytales about it and began to wonder if it truly was possible. He spent months scribbling away and testing different mechanics around. Eventually he was onto something. After many MANY trials and errors and flawed machines. (Probably a couple hospital trips later too) Karl finally had it. This was the test that truly would change his and the librarians life forever.

After many years of tweaking of the time machine, he had managed to get it to shrink massively into a small handheld clock. However, Karl was born with a missing eye so he regularly wore a glass eye to avoid glances from people. He managed to get the machine small enough to be a little clock device encased in glads that fit perfectly where his normal glass eye would of gone.

He frequently travels times and universes where he collects knowledge and artifacts from different universes and times and brings it back to the library. He tried as best as he could to help the librarian get more business, and surprisingly it worked. They had finally gathered enough money to move into an actual home, and eventually the librarian gave Karl ownership over the library. He still lives with the librarian, and even when he is on long trips he makes sure to stop by for the weekend and hang out with him. He forever is grateful for him, and sees him as the father he never had. Many people believe the stories and items inside the library are fake and all made up, but between him and the librarian they were all real. And it was their little secret.
