Juan Cortes (コルテース ホァ Cortez Juan), also known as Amalgaman (アマルガマン Amaragaman), is a Pro Hero working in Japan. 

Appearance

Juan is a young man with a sturdy, muscular build and warm tan skin. He has dark black hair with a slight widow's peak slicked back and reaches just below his chin, curling at the ends. He has two-toned eyes, his right eye being brown and the left being hazel and a scar over his left eyebrow. His hero costume consists of a red military-styled vest that has four matching pockets on both sides on the front with gold buttons to keep them closed, camouflage cargo pants that cuff halfway on his calves, a thick black belt connecting his vest to his pants, and brown sandals. He also wears a brown satchel necklace and steel salakot-like hat. His pockets are always full of varying materials and objects.

Personality

Juan has a calm and emotional demeanor and speaks only when he really needs to convey his thoughts or to complete conversations. He comes off as cold and intimidating most times, and tends to be very blunt and not hold back what he thinks. Japanese is also his second language, and he's prone to use the correct word rather than the proper word. He has a deep ambition to never back down from a task, and can be both very stubborn and passionate when it comes to his goals. He is not afraid to stand his ground against anyone who stands against him. That said, he is very intellectual and observative of situations, and is willing to participate if required. His level-headedness can unfortunately be bothered by frivolous and overtly annoying behaviors, as seen with his coworker Dekel Levian - he does lash out if poked enough.

Juan's prowess as a fighter shows immensely in his hero work. He takes great pride in what he does, and keeps his mind, heart, and soul in check. He takes advantage of his agency's exercise room daily on top of his usual patrol routes. He enjoys sparring with equally strong heroes to better himself in the field.

Quirk and Abilities

Overall Abilities:Juan's greatest ability is his determination and dedication to his Hero work. He is able to defeat challenges, obstacles, and adversaries quickly and effectively. He is able to assess situations quickly and make strategic decisions according to the facts and conditions in front of him. He is able to make sound decisions with limited time, resources, or information as well, making him a sound hero for the front lines.

He can endure more than others physically and mentally in battle without his Quirk. His battle tactics mostly include melee and hand-to-hand combat, utilizing He is a formidable foe, as he can withstand hits while delivering counterattacks. He is also capable of turning himself into a human shield for allies or defenseless civilians. His fighting style is blend of various martial arts and combat sports.

Part of his hero training involved using his surroundings for bettering his Quirk's range, including studying and learning different environments. He is able to map out strategies to deflect attacks and meld with the objects around him simultaneously.

Biochem Intellect: Along with his strong and durable quirk, Juan is wickedly smart and fast to learn and apply anything regarding biochemistry. Not only is it a passion of his since he was young, but it's also essential in order to use his Quirk effectively and efficiently. His knowledge-base is quite large (ex. he can easily recite the periodic table) and he can easily decipher, write, and formulate molecular bonds, interactions, and other physical properties on paper and through his Quirk. His utmost focus is key; distractions are detrimental.

Enhanced Strength: Juan is very strong without utilizing his Quirk. He is able to squat, bench, and deadlift twice his body weight with ease. He is dedicated to keeping up his strength in his daily exercising.

Enhanced Durability: Even without his Quirk, Juan has above-average durability and is very adaptable to various circumstances. He has more muscle on his body than an average citizen due to his constant exercising and daily vitamin regimen.

Enhanced Endurance: Juan has even greater endurance thanks to his hero training and constant exercising. He can withstand longer battles and fights than any average hero.

Quirk

Meld (まぜるー Mazeru): This quirk allows the user to merge and combine themself with any non-sentient object. For Juan, he can meld with any part of his body as long as he understands the molecular build of the object in order to meld without harm. An object melds to his body similar to a symbiote - the skin envelops the object and the molecules shift around for as long as the user activates the Quirk. The more mass the object has, the more of the body is used. For example, if Juan melds with a handful of steel he will have the desired properties of steel in a significant portion of his body. With a handful of sytrofoam, however, only a small portion of the body is used. He can meld with objects for as long as his body can withstand the foreign material. He is able to meld with multiple materials, though he cannot mix them together (ex. wood molecules cannot mix with plastic). This allows him to become an ubreakable weapon or disguise himself.

The more the Quirk is used, the more oxygen the body uses to perform the melding process. If he is melding with different materials repeatedly, he is prone to losing his breath and, in rare cases, collapsing from hypoxia. He counteracts this by keeping himself fit and healthy enough to endure the strain. He also has a limit for how long he can meld with objects, which depends on the molecular complexity and familiarity to his knowledge.

To combat his Quirk's downfalls, he frequently practices melding with a number of different things so he can meld for longer durations. As part of his hero training, he exercises regularly and continues to this day. He also eats iron-rich foods to increase his blood oxygen level and keep him energized and ready to go when out on the job. He also regularly reads up on biochemistry articles and mechanics of new products to keep up-to-date to stay knowledgeable and train his body to meld faster and easier.

• His hero name is an amalgam (a mixture/blend) of itself.
• His quirk activates at a molecular level as he commands his cells to "allow" to meld with the foreign object. The process is very similar to Venom, the symbiote, but Juan has full control on how his molecules interact and adapt to accept an object. His molecules often get jumbled once he turns off his Quirk (rejects an object) if he's not focused on how they should be organized.
• When he first developed his Quirk, he was easily sickened from melding with objects due to the initial after effects. It took him years of studying to fully adapt.
